I have been in the caregiving field for over five years. I too have taken on the responsibility of taking care of loved ones until they passed away. I believe you have to have a special gift to be a caregiver and I definitely have been blessed to have that gift. I have successfully completed a training program and state examination at Morning Star Academy-School of Allied Health in Rockville, MD in 2012. Outside of homecare, my hobbies include taking care of my 3 yo son, practicing special effects makeup, painting and drawing. Previously, I worked in long-term care facilities located in Virginia. I have been working in homecare consistently since 2015. My experience in homecare has been rewarding and less stressful. I love working closely with families and clients to make sure their care and companionship needs are met. I am able to adapt quickly to different working environments. I firmly believe in providing compassionate care to enhance the quality of life for an individual. As a former employee of Snakemans Tattoo Studio I learned the importance of sterilization, blood borne pathogen safety, and customer service. I also learned the value of communication, critical thinking skills, time management, and teamwork while working as a CNA at Golden Living Center and Shenandoah Valley Westminster Canterbury (SVWC). I know the reason that I am a great caregiver because I care about the people that I take care of. I treat each and everyone as a part of my family. It is not about the job but how you want someone to treat your love one, that is the reason I became a caregiver.

I became a caregiver because I love to help people who can't either help themselves or needs assistance. Also because at the age of 14 I became my mother's caregiver along with my sister and grandmother until I was old enough to take care of my mother on my own for 9 years. What I like about being a caregiver is I know at the end of the day when I go home I have done my job and have made my resident and family happy. I started my career as a caregiver at the age of 16, my first job was at a nursing home, this was before having to be certified. All trainig was on the job. In 1980 I recieved my first certification as a Geriactic aide. In 1990 I recieved my certification as Certified Nursing Certificate. I had a child with special needs in 1985, I started working with people with disabilities, I worked with ARC for 26 years. I view caregiving as not only a job, but also as a gift from God. love helping people. I am a Christian, I teach Sunday school . I recieved a certificate in alchohol and drug addiction in 2017. My desire is to start a support group at my church.
