Reason why I became a caregiver to give back. I love making people smile . When I do my job... I do it well ! When I leave the Consumer home knowing they have a smile on there face & comfortable NOT TO MENTION SAFE! I know I did something good & Positive I have worked my way to become a SIC ( supervisor) community coordinator. I over see 6/7 caregivers & 25-30 clients. Thank you for you time . My name is damaris. Have been a caregiver for the past 10yrs . I like caregiver giving job because I like interacting with either the seniors and the children. My motive is to give best care and make sure the family and the person you give care too is happy.

I am a teachers assistant with the Wake County Public School System, as well as a Habilitated Technician. I work with special needs, behavioral, and children with autism as well as adults. I have certifications in CPR, First Aide, Medical Administration, NCI A &B and a host of others. I've been doing this for 12 years. I've also worked in customer service in retail for 15 years so I know what it takes to be hands on and how to satisfy people. I've been caring for people for more than 20 years through service. I'm dedicated, compassionate, and loyal , but most of all dependable.

I enjoy working with people especially the elders. I'm reliable, patience, and compassion. I have over 10 years of experience working with dementia patients. one of my achievement celebrate the things that they can do, not only supporting them in their care needs, but also providing them with a valued friend and confidant.

I personally became a caregiver for the opportunity of changes that were going on in my life at the time. My husband was diabetic and I had been caring for him. He has since passed away 10 years now. I've always related well with the elderly, perhaps alot to do with my father who was 20 years older than my mother. I kinda grew up with a grandfather I guess you could say. I also was married 14 years to my husband whom was 16 years my senior. I enjoy the company of others the stories they do tell fascinate me. I've always been very domesticated in all the work I've had in the past. Starting at the age of 15 with house cleaning with my neighbor. I continued out on my own with a cleaning business that lasted until my husband became to ill for me to continue at 100%. I had taken on caregiving two years prior, and after 30 years of cleaning something had to give, so I chose to stay with the caregiving. Although after cleaning for most of the clients I had 15 years plus, it was a very difficult decision to be made. They were like family to me and most still are. I enjoy helping others no matter the age or difficulties they may have. I've done care for diabetics, stroke, cancer, vascular brain disease, Alzheimers ,dementia parkinson patients. Mostly hospice care these days. Ive lost my father, mother and now my husband to death, and although difficult at times I never seem to give up. I am a young grandmother who thoroughly enjoys the company of my grandchildren, as well as taking trips & spending as much time as I can with my daughter. I am an avid reader & am trying to get proficient with my iPhone, iPad & chromebook! I am a news junkie & research everything on the internet.

I genuinely love to nurture and care for others. From childhood on, I knew I wanted to work in the healthcare field so that I might be able to help those in need. Due to adverse conditions, I was unable to pursue my dream of becoming a nurse, so I initially became a CNA and later became a Medical Assistant. I thoroughly enjoy the comaraderie and direct contact of both positions. As a Medical Assistant, I learned how to draw blood, give injections, vitals, laboratory procedures.....so worked in this field until relocating to Raleigh, NC. There was such a great need for CNAs at that time so I decided to branch out on my own work as private duty caregiver. Since doing so, I have been blessed with wonderful clients, and word of mouth from previous clients has certainly contributed to my success. I am proud of making the decision to become my own boss, and having the initiative and desire to do so. My last private duty assignment ended in April after eighteen months of caring for an Alzheimers' client that ultimately passed away. I grew to love her dearly, and will always hold a special place in my heart for her. Currently, I am doing fill-in work, but am seeking a full time caregiving position.

I helped my Mother take care of my Grandmother when she had a stroke in 1993 up until she passed away in 2003. I learned a lot while caring for her that lead me into the healthcare field.
