I love my job!! The bond that's created.
I became a caregiver because I enjoy making someone else smile and feel that they matter. Spending time with others who may not have family local gives them the sense of purpose, understanding, and love. I enjoy listening to their stories of the past, reading to them, playing games to keep their minds sharp, or just getting them out of the house for a walk or running errands. I believe that everyone wants to stay as independent as possible when they age, so being there for moral support or help with everyday tasks is essential to their state of mind.
I love spending time and helping people especially the elderly I'm very very patient and loving person. My mother has seven sisters and two brothers we are all very close and we took care of my grandmother and grandfather until they went to heaven. I love spending time helping people. It takes a special person to be a caregiver, you have to like what you do, have respect for the elderly. Provide a personal touch to senior care. I took care of my grandmother and my ex-grand mother before they passed and I worked in a senior living facility for over 8 years and just enjoyed offering them a hand or helping when I could. I enjoyed being there for an elderly person that just need that extra hand someone that going to look out for them and not harm them. I remember telling my grandmother that I want to be a nurse but end up working in health care taking care of the elderly. Not a nurse but doing the same thing taking care of those in need!!

I am 49, single and I am a people person. I am a certified PCA/HHA and I feel that it is necessary to help others as much as I can. I have two older brothers and an Autistic niece. We are a close family and we enjoy movies and cookouts and church. I was the caregiver to my mother and my father before they died and one of my sisters. Sickness can make you realize the true value of your family, life and health. The more we grow older, the more we appreciate walking and talking and breathing!!! I am a born caregiver but I know that I have to take care of myself too. I do not drive...however, I am studying the driver's manual. I love to laugh, and to sing, and I am a good cook. I am horrible at checkers and bowling, but I still participate.
I am a caregiver now because I enjoy taking care of the elder. They need someone that is caring and compassionate that is willing to help them. I try to bring a little joy each day to them because they need to know that someone cares and love them. I have worked with Alzheimer's patients and it is very rewarding. These are people that for no fault of their own has been stricken with this disease and each day lose a little bit of themselves. They need someone to be there for them and understands what's happening to them and is willing to be patient with them.
i AM GIVING, LOVING, CARING, COMPASSIONATE, DEPENDABLE PERSON. I FEEL THIS IS MY CALLING TO HELP THOSE IN NEED. IT GIVES ME GREAT PLEASURE TO KNOW THAT I'VE MADE A DIFFERENCE IN SOMEONE'S LIFE JUST BY ASSISTING THEM WITH A BATH OR PREPARING A MEAL. I TREAT EVERYONE AS IF THEY WERE MY FAMILY OR THE WAY I WANT TO BE TREATED IF I WAS IN NEED. I AM ALWAYS THE GO TO PERSON WHEN SOMEONE NEEDS ASSISTANCE WITH THEIR CARE. I LOVE TO SEE THE SMILE ON A CLIENTS FACE JUST TO KNOW THAT SOMEONE IS THERE TO ASSIST THEM. MANY CLIENTS KNOW THAT THE CAREGIVERS ARE THE ONLY ONES THEY WILL SEE.
I am an CHHA since 2000, I am available to work any hours and days, I have my own transportation, I've worked with children as well as the elderly. I am currently looking for fulltime or live-in cases I am CPR certified, l am a very caring and patient person. I would need two weeks in advance to start, to give my recent agency time to find a replacement. I am familiar with low sodium and low calorie diets. Communication with the family is very important to me.
My experience in caring for the elderly started at a young age. As a child my mother worked in a Nursing Home and would bring us into visit with patients that had no family. So of course this would be my first job working in this Nursing Home. I feel very passionate about working with the elderly. I have worked in 2 Nursing Homes and am now doing companion aide work. I have cared for patients with Dementia, Alzheimer's and prosthetics. Giving the elderly the care and compassion they need gives me much pleasure. Whether it be helping with things they can on longer do on their own or sitting and chatting for awhile.
