I also helped an elderly man in his 80's with Parkinson's for 1 1/2 years. During that time I was responsible for medication management, wound care, bathing, personal grooming, dressing, meal prep, feeding if needed, house cleaning, and laundry. I have been certified here from The Care Academy for being a Professional Caregiver, Preventing Falls In Older Adults, and 5 different categories for Alzheimer's and Dementia . I currently drive an elderly woman with Dementia to Daycare 2 days per week her daughter hired me, and gave me a 5-star rating on care.com so I have excellent references. I have always liked people and helped others. I been a caregiver on and off for over 30 years. I have taken care of many people like they were my own family. My patients needs and wants will always come first. I may someday need care and i will give my patients the respect and care that I want for myself if needed someday. For the last three years I have been with a wonderful lady who pass on her 102 birthday and her daughter who will be moving to an independent living on Oct 1. This is why I will be leaving here this house is to big for the both of us and there to many memories here which we both become sad at times. I drive and have my own car, I treat my patient like my own family, my jobs includes giving shower/bath to the client, , preparing meals, engaging in exercise and activities, medication reminders, take to and from any appointments or social events, running errands, assist with grocery, guidance in grooming, assist with emails. I am a very caring and patient young woman . Since I was 10 I started taking care of my younger family members it just came naturally. What I enjoy the most is the connection I have with the people have helped. What I am most proud of the strong relationship that still remains between us.

Growing up in a family of medical professionals overseas I surely thought that one day I would become a nurse. After watching my aunt take care and aid the sick in her home, I knew I wanted to become more hands-on with patients. While still in high school, I began working at a local hospital, helping out with medical records and little jobs as needed around the hospital. Being surrounded on a daily basis by this kind of environment also empowered me to be able to care for my own grandmother which is why I decided to become a caregiver.
