I grew up in a loving family of 12. My grandmother lived with us until she died at 96. I enjoy every minute of being an RN. I worked for 8 years for a wonderful gentleman who was paralyzed from the neck down and on a ventilator. What makes me a great nurses is my passion, my problem solving abilities, my kindness, my honesty, my professionalism and my commitment. I am a Health Advocate. I feel worthwhile and that I am making a difference.Before I started college I worked in daycare.I received a lot of joy helping the children to overcome obstacles. I graduated from the University of Texas and received my BSN. I worked at St. Lukes in the ICU's. I took care of clients with all kinds of problems.I also worked on the transplant unit at ST. Luke's. I transferred to M,D. Anderson Hospital where I was the evening charge nurse. Our clients had a variety of cancers.After 18 months I transferred to a private oncology office. I dealt with newly diagnosed patients.I taught them about their disease, I mixed and administered chemotherapy. The doctors I worked for were also hematologist. We treated a number of AIDS patients.I worked extensively with the families.When the patients disease was no longer treatable I Placed them on Hospice.My children were young and I decided to stay home with them. I eventually went back to school and became a Texas Certified teacher. I was certified to teach grades 4-8th and special education. I taught in public schools and started tutoring privately. I then started to take care of clients that needed my help physically.
