Have been a caregiver for over 10 years love doing it have taken care of my grandparents and other family members been in nursing homes for 2 years and in home care for the last 1 year and have enjoyed it my goal is to make my residents happy and enjoy taking care of them and helping them in any way
I have a positive attitude as well as an enthusiastic voice. I always make my client feel at their best. Even if I do not. The reason I became a caregiver is because I wanted to see if the nursing field was for me, so far I've learned it is. The thing I enjoy most is being able to make someone feel like they are not alone. A personal achievement I am proud of is graduating high school early.
I became a caregiver because at the time I had just lost my job which I had been at for 10 years. I needed a job and so I applied for a caregiver job through an agency. I have been working as a caregiver 3 years. I have really enjoyed my job. I feel rewarded knowing that I can make them feel loved and appreciated. I am a Christian woman and I believe that we should all be loving, compassionate, caring, patient, understanding and treat everyone as you would want others to treat you.
I became a caregiver after the death of my biological mother and witnessing the needs she had prior to her death with her illness. I enjoy the ability to assist others and to care for patients. I believe that I have been in a wonderful field and enjoy the interactions with my patients and the family members. I have been in the field for over 20 years in one aspect or another. I have been employed as a licensed vocational nurse for 10 plus years and have greatly enjoyed it. I have recently moved and am now looking for more of a one to one situation to care for an individual and be able to devote more of my time and care to the one instead of having to spread my care among numerous patients at a time. I feel that I may better serve the patient in this capacity.
I'm a sympathetic and empathetic person. I've always loved working with children and elderly from a young age. When I was in elementary school I use to be apart of a club that went to a nursing home once a week. We provided companionship for them. I've always been drawn to helping/caring for others. I've had several different nannying jobs on top of daycare jobs. But I've also always wanted to get involved with working with elderly again. From 2009-2012 I helped my family care for my very sick grandmother on and off. Until 2011 I lived out of state, but when I came back was when I was able to help more. My grandmother fought stage 4 ovarian cancer from May 2009 until she passed in November 2012. So, I'm used to being around someone sick and helping them out with something as simple as cleaning. Back when she still lived on her own I'd go over to her house at least twice a week to help with cleaning, cooking , watering her plants, or even gives keeping her company. Once she got too ill to live alone, she came to live with my family and I for a good 6 months. So, providing care for her became a daily part of my routine. I've always been attracted to being some sort of caregiver. It is truly my life passion to help others. I enjoy getting to know the people, knowing I can help make their day or even bring a little light back into their life by helping them or providing companionship.
I became a Caregiver/ CNA , because i enjoy taking care people. The enjoyment of helping someone else is a blessing and I love what I do. The best of achievement is me becoming the person I am today, a child of God. I been in the medical field for 14yrs. Im currently an CNA. I enjoy taking care of the elderly and the disable. Im married with 3 beautiful little girls.
What makes me a great caregiver is that I'm kind and generous and have great patience. I was attracted to caregiving due to my grandma being ill when i was a teenager. I used to tell myself when I get older I wanted to help people who couldn't help themselves especially the eldery. The best thing about being a caregiver Is knowing your helping those who can't take care of themselves and knowing that you bring a little hope as you encourage them to do little things. The most thing I enjoy about caregiving is getting to know them as a individual and hearing their stories it's amazing what some people have accomplished throughout their life's...I enjoy being a blessing to others and it makes me feel like I've accomplished something when I help others.
I believe that everybody needs a companion. Even when they have one, who can't always be there, I try to be the person they want. I love caregiving because it makes me feel accomplished, and I love getting to know as much as I possibly can about other people! I'm excited to be in this profession, be in only looking to expand amazing, people into my every day life.
I actually had friends and family who were already working within the healthcare system well before I had ever given any thought to doing it as an occupation. One day, as I was visiting with my grandfather in his hospital room, I met a guy who was sharing with me that he had a sister a couple floors up from my grandfather, who was literally taking her final breaths, and he expressed how he wished he could grant her last dying wish. I asked what that was, and he said, "to hear the song Amazing Grace sang one last time." Touched by his story, I expressed to him how I would be so honored if I could sing it to her! Without hesitating, he said, "absolutely!" By this time, we are boarding the elevator, heading toward his sister's room. He gathers all the family, and we enter. As I began singing, I noticed a calm, peaceful look on her face as she quietly listened to the words of the song...her favorite song! Needless to say, there wasn't a dry eye in the room (including mine). I visited awhile longer before leaving to return to my grandfather's room. I left there feeling changed somehow. I was humbled by the beauty of life through the eyes of a dying soul! It was at this very moment when I knew that this was my calling --- my purpose in life, and I took off like a rocket, and I never looked back! I have six years experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant, but many more years experience as a caregiver and companion prior to becoming certified. I both, enjoy, and love what I do an
