I love the idea of giving care to someone who otherwise may be unable to care for themselves. My grandfather needed a caregiver himself when I was much younger and my family was unfortunate to have the worst experiences and I'd like to use this opportunity to make someone's experience a lot better and their lives easier.

I'm a registered nurse with 10 years experience. My background is critical care, post-operative care and prior charge nurse experience in orthopedics/telemetry. I'm a mom of 3 young children. I'm hardworking, organized, attentive to detail and compassionate about providing high quality care with each client I encounter. After years of being at the bedside and witnessing far too many elderly and disabled clients admitted with preventable health ailments- I've decided to transition my career to provide quality care and help my community prevent these cases from happening. In my present role as registered nurse at Northern Virginia mental Health Institute, I am tasked with evaluating the medical conditions of patients daily and developing and directing a rotational system to manage the care of patients and otherwise coordinate workforce management. During this time, I've been recognized as a dedicated, ambitious, and reliable person who has the ability to work without supervision. In addition, my four years of experience as a CNA at Westmister lake Ridge helped me realize and implement clinical duties I learned during the course of my education. While employed there, I was commended for proficiently handling difficult situations with patients and their family members. I feel confident that my experience will be extremely beneficial to you. Compassion, although it comes naturally, I have continued to cultivate it in my personal and spiritual life. Nothing makes me happier than to know I have in some way made the life of others, more comfortable, bearable, dignified. My first observation of healthcare was in the family setting observing, Mother, and Aunties attend to the needs of those family members who were advanced in age, disabled or in distress just seemed like a natural thing to do. At the age of 14, I volunteered as a "Candystriper." even though I was personally terrified of blood, needles, and that medicinal hospital smell. I love using my education and experience to help clients and their families through difficult times. My proudest moment was successfully completing my Nurses diploma in 1986, graduating from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, on the Dean's list.

OBJECTIVE I am an experienced R.N. of many years. A positive encouraging person. I enjoy my work as a Nurse and I like to give my best of care to those who need it most. I have my clients well being at heart, and their advocate all my life. As a young Certificated Midwife, who delivered thousands of babies, in a remote village in Ghana years ago, I realized how I loved being in the Health field. I have been in the Nursing field for a long time, and delivering top-notch quality services to my clients is classic to me. I proficiently use my experienced skills beyond the call of my duties, to assist other staff members who needed a touch of training to enhance their skills for the betterment of client care. I was a nurse in the Philippines and my experience as a caregiver began with taking care of my diabetic aunt. After graduation I took care of several patients in their private homes. As a caregiver I have had the chance to understand the needs of families. I am always present and able to provide around-the-clock care. My main responsibility as a caregiver is to provide assistance with the medical, personal, and emotional needs of the patient. I am skilled at administering medicine according to doctors' orders or simply reminding patients to take their medications. I also assist with activities of daily living - I can help with bathing, grooming, dressing, mobility, exercising, meal planning, nutrition tracking, transferring from bed to wheelchair, and keeping company. I can also do light housekeeping, prepare meals, and provide emotional care to the family members. Caregivers prevent family members from feeling burnt out. As a caregiver I feel that I have contributed a lot by improving the health conditions of my patients. I find nothing more rewarding than caring for them.

I became a caregiver because I wanted to help others who were going through life changes and needed care, love and assistance. I believe all individuals deserve a high level of care. Taking care of someone gives me an opportunity to serve. I am proud of the fact that I have learnt to swim as an adult. I love to read and I write poetry.
