What I like about being a Caregiver is the diversity of my clients, everyone has a different story and background. I love to listen about their lives, accomplishments, family and loved ones. It's like watching a Classic tale of another time and these stories become part of my life, parts not to be forgotten. I love to put not only my heart into my work, but my sensitivity, compassion, laughter, attentiveness and honest character as well. I have worked with some challenging cases like Alzheimer's, Cancer patient's, Stroke patient's and other types of illnesses. I am thankful for the opportunity to have worked with and known my patient's, not just as patient's, but we became friends as well, and I was there when they needed me. I have been a CNA/Home Health Aid for several years, currently my license is inactive, but I still retain all the skills necessary to perform an outstanding job for you. I became a caregiver, because I always wonted to help people. The most gratifying feeling to me is the helping someone that can't do for themselves, and to feel appreciated. My grandmother passed when I as 18 and I loved her dearly, I have always had a soft spot for the elderly and handicapped. This is my way of giving back. my personal achievement is getting my CNA, phlebotomy training, and CPR. I have a lot of experience in the medical field, I have worked in Rehabs ,surgery centers, hospitals, and private duty. have over 19yrs. experience.
I'm a great caregiver because I'm compassionate about helping the elderly and disabled to have a better quality of life .Knowing that growing older for some can be challenge but having someone to help you get through those diffulcult times by making day to day life easier can make a big difference. It gives me joy to be a part of making someones life better.
A great caregiver is someone who is kind, compassionate, and loving by nature. A generous, sensitive spirit can't be taught only given by the Creator Himself. Caregiving found me. The elderly, children, and animals bring joy to my heart. If I can bring a little peace and comfort into the life of another person I feel I've done what the Master called me to do. My career as a caregiver began by working in a nursing home facility over a year ago. I worked with respiratory patients, wound care patients, dementia patients, HIV patients, hospice patients, Alzheimer patients, and handicapped patients who had all of their faculties but because of missing limbs were unable to stay at home. I learned to give very basic to advanced care. While the level of care changed the one thing that remained constant was the need for a kind word. I was often asked to go into a room and communicate with a difficult patient because there was something about my calm voice and gentle nature that turned every tide into smooth sailing. I left the facility because it was heartbreaking. It should have been a place where every worker enjoyed working there. Instead finding someone who enjoyed their work was a rarity. I believe private duty will be much more fulfilling.
I became a caregiver because I was already going to pursue a career in the medical field, and I wanted to get a feel for being in a medical environment. The enjoyable part about being a caregiver is getting experience working with around patients and other medical professionals. A personal achievement I am proud of is getting my CNA license in the 11th grade. With that license, It has taken me one step further into the medical field and has also encouraged me to pursue a medical career in the first place. A little something about myself is that I am very charismatic and people tend to take comfort in me because of my positive personality.
What makes me a great caregiver is that I'm truly an advocate for the safety and well-being of the patient. I'm my eyes, there's no wrong door. I do all I can to make sure my patient is very well taken care of and has what they need. I love helping others; especially those that are unable to help themselves.
