When a loved one went into rehab after being in the hospital and finding that the level of care he received while in the nursing home was awful I swore I would help those who needed genuinely good care. I was able to witness those who were not treated fairly and could not speak up for themselves in these homes and family members who were caught between a rock and a hard spot not being able to be there or care for their loved one in their home, my heart went out to them. I love helping people and putting a smile on someone's face. My cases have involved dealing with dementia patients, patients with mobility issues, bed ridden, hospice care and just someone who needs a friend to listen and someone who really cares about them. I am proud to say that those families that I have cared for have been very happy with my services That puts a smile on my face and says I've done a job well done.

What attracted me to caregiving was when I first started caring for my grandmother at the age of 12. I enjoyed helping her get dressed and preparing meals for us to eat together. After high school, I went to trade school and became a nurses aid in which I've been doing the past 10 years. First I will answer why I became a caregiver. I was working in housekeeping and heard that the class was being offered to become a CNA. I had already realized that I enjoyed saying good morning and chatting with patients and thought this would give me an even greater opportunity to spend quality time with them. I signed up for the training and was successful in completing the course and passing my state license. After I began working, I was thrilled to see the difference a CNA made in the lives of the patients. I got to know their families and the fact that they trusted me to care for their family member made my job serious and important. I love chatting with patients. The stories they tell are so interesting. Many patients are older and have very interesting stories. I like being a CNA and caregiver.
