What makes me a great caregiver is my organization and ablity to multitask, I'm a reliable person. I enjoy people and treat people with respect. I've been a caregiver for 30+ years the reason I became a caregiver is, it's given is the ability to help other people, live the best posible life they can live. What I enjoy the most is watching people smile and heal. The thing I'm most proud of is raising my 4 children to be healthy young men.

As of October 4, 2022 I'm current with all COVID-19 vaccine shots and on Oct 4, 2022 I got the newest booster shot. I have been a IP ( Independent Provider ) Hospice/CNA nurse for 10 plus years now after obtaining my license in 2011. But been a caregiver for over twenty years now. My certification includes experience working with Dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Cancer, Autism, Mental Health, Nurse Delegation, Sundowner's, Stroke/Brain Bleed, Stroke with AFO brace, Cerebral Palsy, PSP ( Progressive Supranuclear Palsy) and Diabetes. I am CPR certified. I have my own transportation, non smoker, and have a clean driving record. I love working with people, but my passion is to work with senior citizens. I enjoy reading, cooking, scrapbooking, listening to music, love doing puzzles and playing with my three small dogs. I am handy in both house and yard work. The part I love most about what I do is the smiles and enjoyment that I can see on my clients faces from the care and help I give them. My most recent work has consisted of taking care of a ninety-six year old sweet lady with Dementia/cancer. Over 20 yrs experience caring for people of all ages and abilities. 5+ yrs as a CNA in PDX first working in a small facility for people w/ HIV/AIDS then onto temping at LTC Facilities all over PDX. 18 years working for UCP, OR w/ adults w/ CP & intellectual disabilities. 5+ yrs as an "Enhanced Worker" HCW doing in-home care for Aging & Disability Services. Now certified in WA as a HCA to work in-homes. Additional interests & education include: Cosmetology, Naturopathic Assistant & Juice Bar Manager. Study Yoga, Tai Chi Chuan & Meditation. Some massage school experience too. Strong interest in Nutrition and Whole Foods Cooking & Herbs. I believe we are here to help and learn from one another and I chose caregiving because it allows me to really thrive while hopefully uplifting or at least easing the lives of those I work with.

I was certified in November 2019 after attending a CNA training program in Hawaii Job Corps (Oahu, HI). In the program I was able to attain my HIPAA, Blood Borne Pathogens, and Basic Life Support. I have since then attended Western Iowa Tech where I received my prerequisites for Nursing 1. Because of the pandemic I decided to take a break from school to work and make ends meet. My Hawaii certification unfortunately expired before I could have it transferred so I have been working as an uncertified caregiver . Luckily for me, it's something I've always enjoyed doing. I do hope to get state certified soon because I take pride in this line of work and the relationships I build with my residents. [?]

Caring for others and their well being is a passion of mine. I have been in the medical field in some fashion for the past 40 years. I have extensive knowledge and experience with the in home care arena. My charge has included children with special needs, adults and seniors with varying medical complications. Trustworthy, reliability, and respectful are qualities of mine. I also possess the gifts of compassion, mercy and empathy; and have extensive experience in hospice care as well. Additional experience includes PT< OT<ST<RT.

I am a caregiver because I enjoy helping Seniors feel good about themselves in their every day lives. I thrive working in harmonious environments and create them with patience and consideration. Being a caregiver is almost like being an extension of the Senior by assisting with basic day-to-day needs we take for granted like dressing, walking, eating, running errands, medication management and more. The joy working as a caregiver is being able to provide the type of assistance that will help a senior to keep his or her treasured independence for as long as possible. I understand the importance of living at home amongst familiarity and comfort along with personal dignity. I am most proud of building friendships and being the kind of companion that truly appreciates and respects Seniors day-to-day desires and needs. It's about making the person feel his or her best! I have worked as a Caregiver since 2010. I have worked in facilities with 80 to 350 residents. I've worked on the assisted living floors, memory care units and with Hospice patients. I've worked as a Med Aide giving vitamins, medications, narcotics and insulin injections. I have provided assistance with obtaining vitals, catheter care and oxygen tanks. It's quality of life that counts the most and I believe in giving to seniors quality care which they more than deserve. I also believe that what goes around comes around and I will be a senior needing care one day and I will want quality care too.

I have been a CNA now for 30 years, I love working with the elderly, I plan on someday going back to school to become a Nurse. For now I want to take a break from Long-term care and do something different for a change

I've been in the medical field for over 22 years now. I've worked in all aspects from working with developmentally disabled to medically fragile children. I was born into the medical field as I had parents that were also caregivers, advocates, case managers , adult care home owners. It's what I know and what I love to do. To me it's not a job it's what I do and what i was meant to do in life.
