My grandparents, as well as my great-grandparents, made a very strong impression on me. I enjoyed spending time with all of them in the summer. Goodness, kindness, and unconditional love from my sweet relatives taught me to be loving, caring, and considerate of my elders. I've been in this field for awhile, I took care of my grandma who has dementia/ Alzheimer's. From that point I've made this a career most of my work since high school has been caring for elderly and adolescence who aren't able to be alone or do there daily life activities.. I had one group home I worked for and my clients would make me feel so welcomed and appreciated. They would make me a special card every Christmas it meant so much to me. I love being a big part of someone's life and making sure they are as independent as they can be.

Ive been a caregiver for about 10 years. 5 years certified. When I got started in this field it was out of necessity. My grandmother had a stroke and i had no choice. I didn't even want to be a caregiver. After about a year my grandmother passed away. But the feeling that i got from being able to care for her like she cared for me was indescribable. First time I felt i had contributed something; actually helped somebody. Like I made a difference, like i made her last days better. 10 years later I cant picture myself doing anything else. I love what I do. And everytime I help a client or they smile and say thank you its like helping my grandmother all over again.
