I cared for my grandmother for six years and my mother for a year when she broke her hip I also had a client I cared for until he passed away in December and I have worked with hospice several times once here with Tom and in Ohio I worked with hospice with several clients I just enjoy being around the seniors they have so much to offer and listening to their stories I really enjoy I also enjoy showing them things that I do and I like to involve them in things that I do and have them show me things that they used to do and do it I just get a lot of joy out of seeing them smile and listen to them

My passion for healthcare began about the age of five. For many years my dream career was to become a doctor. As I aged and researched into a career as a doctor, I realized that medical school was far too expensive for my financial situation. Regardless, of this financial set back, I knew that healthcare was the career field I wanted to pursue. Hello, my name is Madison Odegaard. I will be graduating from the University of Alabama in May 2022 and applying to PA school to become a Physician Assistant. I work during the school year for Indian Rivers Behavioral Health where I care for clients with developmental disabilities. I also volunteer for the RISE center where I care for infants both with disabilities and without. My goal is to care for individuals who are vulnerable, specifically either clients with disabilities or children. My dream is to give them the best possible care and life experiences.

I am a seasoned caregiver with 20+ years experience. I have worked as an LPN in all areas of care- Hospital med/surg. OB/NSY, ICU, E.R. Also many years as charge nurse in nursing homes. In 2008 I decided to leave the rat race of facilities and get back to what nursing is supposed to be. I love doing 1:1 care of my clients and families. I decided that I wanted to be a caregiver after my grandma had a stroke. After my grandmas stroke, I took care of her for a little bit and realized that I liked taking care of her/ helping her. I decided to take a CNA course at the local college, while I was in high school. After I got my CNA I began working at the Wellstead of Rogers. While I was working there, I gained a lot of knowledge on how to deal with people with Alzheimer's/dementia. While working at Cherrywood I have received the Florence Nightingale award twice. At most of my jobs I have received a pay increase.
