As a caregiver I strive to make the individual feel and know that person is appreciated and important. I went into caregiving because it is our duty to help those that need assistance and wanted to help those that didn't readily have it at their disposal. It makes me feel good to help others and to see them shine when they are around someone that is loving and caring. A personal achievement I am proud of is being a motivator to an individual I cared for in exercise and actually doing the exercises with him; also staying with a client as a direct support until she passed away. Since I was a little girl going to the nursing home with my school choir singing and dancing for the residents always made them happy . At 19 I went and got my C.N.A license and went from there pursing my passion . I went to school a couple years back and got my Medical Assistant Certification which im proud of and want to go back for my R.N.

I am a person who really enjoys helping people. Besides being a wife and mother it's really my only goal in life. Working with people who need the extra help allows me to fulfill that goal. The stories they have and the learning experiences they provide are what brought me to home health care, I could listen to most of my clients for hours. My clients love having someone there that truly listens to them. And I am extremely gental but firm at the same time which allows me to help them in the most efficient way without hurting them, and that gives my clients a piece of mind that I know what I'm doing.

I took care of my grandmother from the age of 16 to my early 20's, who was suffering from dementia. At the age of 24 I acquired my certificate to pass medication in ISL homes for the state of missouri and taking care of the needs for the mentally and physically handicapped. I became a caregiver when my grandfather had a stroke and I desired to provide better care for seniors than he received. I am a mother of four older children and I am very organized and creative in caregiving. I am currently a nursing student working toward becoming as Registered Nurse. I have more experience with medications, surgical complications, ADLs, physical assessment, and emergency care than a CNA, but I still have the compassion of a one on one caregiver because I started out as a CNA.
