Hi! My name is Kathy Masino. I am a retired Registered Nurse who decided to stay at home and raise my 3 beautiful children who are now grown and doing their own thing out in the world. I could not be prouder of them or more thankful for the opportunity I had to stay home and raise them. I truly miss the nursing aspect that brought much joy and fulfillment to my life. I would love the opportunity to work again with the elderly in the capacity of a companion with the added benefit of having a nursing background. I believe everyone deserves respect, dignity, compassion in the elder years. Growing old is not easy and unfortunately Father Time gets us all! I have always enjoyed the stories and the quiet moments with elders. They have much to share and much to learn from.

What is a personal achievement you are proud of ? I start working with my great grandmother and I see the I start loving what I'm doing with out going to college because that is something that comes from your heart . Over the years I lost all four of my grandparents to cancer. I became a caregiver because I want to help people that are going through the same obstacles they once were. Helping people is my passion. The best feeling in the world is making a slight difference in one's life, making someone smile is everything. When I take care of my resident's and I recieve a smile it makes me feel like I've done a wonderful job. What attracted me to caregiving is going to the nursing home everyday and seeing my grandfathers nurses and aides come in, they always had a smile on their face and it gave him one too. The things they did for him were amazing and I wanted to do the same for someone else's grandparents.

For some reason I have always had the softest spot for elderly people, or just people with disabilities in general. My parents was 40+ when I was born and I also have a nephew who was born with a rare disorder, so before I even decided to become a certified caregiver I realized that I already was one. I enjoy the work I do because I know how big of an impact my love and affection puts on other people. As an disabled or elderly person, they need the extra love in their life and I decided to be that person, even if it is only for a few hours out the day. Every second matters. My greatest achievement was becoming a CNA, some would go further and want more, but to me it is not about the money. As a LPN, or RN I wouldn't have much 1 on 1 times with my patients as I want and that's not what I want. So being a CNA will allow me to be around them and show them as much care and love as I can.
