I was 15 years old and just started my freshman year of high school when I was placed in a class called Intergenerational Studies. For 2 hours each day I was taken to the nursing home called Golden Years there in Elgin, Tx. I started off just getting residents from their rooms to come and do activities with me. But it wasn't long and I was working side by side with CNAs, RNs, and at one point the DON had me shadow her for 2 weeks. I just got really interested and a few years after graduation and having my son, I pursued a CNA certification and was assigned the hospice hall and the "lockdown unit" which was occupied by the more violent patients and those with conditions such as Alzheimer's and/or parkinson's, as well as those with behavioral health conditions. I honestly just fell in love with everything about caring for the elderly. Even the hard and very emotional side of the care I provide is something I wouldn't want to stop doing. I would love to get my CNA back but just haven't attempted to do so since my husband passed in 2011. Since my high school days I have worked with all ages of people, from a 2 year old little princess to a 98 year old gentleman I referred to as Fred Astaire due to them looking like twins. He loved it and would smile so big when I walked in every day; and every day he would say "Good morning Ms. Judy (Garland). You feel like dancing the day away?" It's things like that for which I love my work. Please feel free to ask anything, I would love to tell everything now but there is just so much I've been blessed to have experienced with so many different people I'd never be done.

I started over 10 years ago at a local nursing home here in Fredericksburg, TX. I fell in love with how close you get to the patients like learning about their interests, hobbies & about their families they loved so much. I cared for each & every patient as if they were my own family. I love the sincere talks & the laughs & the time I spend with each & every single patient I worked with. I also learned alot from my alzheimer's & dementia patients. It's a day to day adventure that I welcome gladly. I have experience in hospice care as well as home healthcare. No matter where I worked I learned something from each place & each wonderful patient I had the privilege to come in contact with. Now I hope to be of some help to you to bring my patient & outgoing care to you.

I am an EMT and have always loved taking care of people especially the elderly. I took care of my mother who had ALZ in a facility until she passed from Covid. I especially love taking care of end-of-life patients.

Raised by both sets of grandparents I consider myself an old soul with tons of respect class and heart, I am extremely aware of others needs almost as I feel what they feel (Overly empathetic) live to serve, aim to please, dedicated, determined. I was born to heal & care for others not many can handle the emotional part of being ill but I find deep satisfaction in helping and knowing I changed someone's life and helped there loved ones get through this part of life. I've never met anyone who doesn't love & trust me. No children not married so I'm am very reliable, flexible & willing. I'm an ALS specialty Caregiver, Alzheimer's Whisperer, but have dealt with all and many different cases for the past 18 years

Enjoy caring for the elderly. Very active with patient if they are mobile and able to be taken out. I've had patients I've taken to the movies, walking trails, lake, gone boating, shopping, out to eat, and basically get them out of the house to enjoy their day. If they are home bound I've baked with them some of their own recipes they may have. Because I love to bake from scratch. Cook, clean, and just spend time with them. I feel some don't have long why not make their last days good.

I retired in 2008 from VIHA in Canada. I was employed for 20 years as community health worker. I worked and cared for many different client needs over those years with special training by an RN if needed. I mostly worked with the elderly out in the community. Med reminders/ personal care etc./ meals. I work with MS/Alzheimer's/Parkinson's/Dementia/Palative/HIV/Hep C. Clients. Different types of duties passed down from an RN with specialized training wound care etc. Cleaning of oxygen machines and more. Recently I have taken some courses in recovery coach and intervention for drug and alcohol addictions. I currently work weekends graveyard shift at warrior's heart in Bandera TX. I currently have training for Blue step medication administering. 30 hours with relias online training. Current CPR/ immunizations up to date/ TB test neg. / Flu shot./Drug testing passed/Criminal record check none. I am a permanent resident of the USA. Unconditional permanent resident.
