I am a caring, patient, loving, and compassionate caretaker. My deepest desire is to serve others by meeting their physical need. I am a good listener and love to be a companion for both the young and old. I think that being a care taker is one of the best and most needed jobs. Their are so many individuals who previously have experienced a full and independent life, but are unable to now due to a disease or illness. My desire is to come along side of those who are in need in order to improve their quality of daily life. My favorite part about caregiving is the the when I can see someones quality of life improve just by being there, loving them, and coming along side of them. I am proud of the many grateful smiles and "thank you's" I have received from different patients over the past few years. Being a nursing student, spending hundreds of hours serving others, and many more hours studying in order to give patients the best possible care has been one of my greatest achievements.

I became a caregiver as a young child. Helping my cousin, Brian, who had Downs Syndrome, overcome fears and succeed made me deeply happy. I worked my way through college as a live-in caregiver, and relived the joy I had as a young girl helping Brian love life. If I had to give one reason that sets me apart as a caregiver, it is this -- love making others feel safe, content, happy, and challenged. By that, I mean motivated to overcome problems and feel hopeful once again. Overall, I have been caregiving for 15+ years (except for the 20 years I taught school), and I give God the credit for placing the love and compassion in my heart for those who are suffering. When I help others, then I am happy.

My passion is helping others and I found a way to really make a difference by being a caregiver. I absolutely love taking care of the elderly and spending time with them. Their stories of their past just add fuel to my fiery passion. I'm a happy go lucky person and love making my residents/clients laugh and smile. My residents/clients are like family to me and I treat them how I'd want someone to treat my grandparents. I can't imagine doing anything else in life. My first day as a caregiver was it for me. I knew that this is what I wanted to do.

I have been a Caregiver all my life. When my children were young I ran a Day Care out of my home. When they became teenagers I went back to School and fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a Registered Nurse. I have worked very closely with people of all ages from Newborn's to Senior Citizens. My name is Kris. I am a mother of four children. I have been doing caregiving in a variety of settings for over 17 years. I have worked in assisted living, hospital, hospice and nursing home. I did private in home care for my grandmother also before she passed. Taking care of her was actually the first experience I had with caregiving. I really enjoy the one on one time with people and getting to know them. I also love knowing that I have helped someone in some way on any given day. Even if it is nothing more than running to the store for them. I love to see the smiles on peoples faces when they are happy and content or have someone else to talk to. The personal achievement that I am proud of is that I have instilled in my children that at some point in everybodies life they need some help.
