I've been working in this field for 25 yrs.. Private home health care field. I love people I'm honest trustworthy caring. I'm a CNA IM A ADSP Have my first aid and CPR.

I am a caregiver because I love people. There are not enough people to give care and attention to folks who need another set of strong yet gentle hands. I like to listen, talk and generally make people feel important and worth while. Caring giving is rewarding work. It makes me feel good when I can ease a burden and make someones day better because I was there. I am very proud of my ability to make friends and win trust. I worked for a nursing home in Iowa. There was one resident in particular that was hard for CNA staff to get along with. She wasn't very friendly at first but I squatted down in front of her, and explained this was the job I chose to do because I love helping people. She could see I was sincere, and warmed up to me knowing she wasn't a burden to me, and I liked helping her. I am in my second semester of school for Respiratory Therapy. I am love being in my yard gardening. My first grandchild will be 1 year old this July 21st. I'm a pretty good cook and a tidy house keeper.

I have 8 years of Geriatric Care in Nursing homes, Assisted living facilities and in home care. I enjoy helping others and will continue my education to become a nurse practitioner and be able to provide health care to various ages of life through my career.

I have 15 years experience as a caregiver and have dealt with dementia, alzheimer's, diabetes, wound care, given medications, taken to doctor appointments ect. I decided to become a caregiver after, being employed at Greenville Regional hospital and realizing I would prefer working one on one with an individual and have the opportunity to build a closer patient/employee relationship. 2.
