My name is Amber and I'm 25 years old I grew up with my grandparents and they got sick very young my grandfather had COPD and my nana had crippling arthritis so I was unable to finish school and I was unable to work so that's how I started caregiving yes it was my family. I had to do everything for them and I got a lot of experience from that considering my nana used to be a nurse. Then when my dad hurt himself he had his leg amputated I had to help him with that because he was unable to. he would get infections often and I would have to bandage him when he would be able to focus because of his medication I had to orientate him to where he was, what was going on. I also have experience with those who have Alzheimers and can't remember things such as taking their medication and sometimes how to get to the bathroom and what to do when there and it is unfortunate but me offering care and help for them so they can stay at home and live as normal as they can is what I'm really here for. Also have experience with those with limited mobility and helping those get around whether it be with a wheelchair or helping them walk physically myself for those who are unable to get out and go do very many things helping them even go to the mailbox will put a smile on their face and that's what is so great about this job is being able to provide things to people that they couldn't do for themselves anymore because like I said even checking your mail if you haven't done it in a while give you a sense of freedom and brings Joy To Your Heart and that's what I wanted to make people happy make people feel alive and free.
