I am actually a CNA. I became one because of my grandmother. Seeing her in the sick stage made me want to care for every elderly I could. As a child to see someone who means a lot to you, just go down it made me say when I grow up I want to be in the medical field . And I became a certified nurse assistant. I like the fact that they depend on me for care. I also enjoy caring for them, the look in there eyes when they see me makes me feel like I'm important to someone. My love for older people is undeniable ,strong ,and unfailing . I don't see me doing nothing else but sharing my big heart for a person who needs it. My personal achievement is making them smile when they see me coming to care for them. Letting them talk about old times , listening to their life before they needed a person to come in and care for them. And just knowing that they are glad to have a great caregiver In their life, that's what my achievement is. I'm 40 years old. I've been a CNA for 14 yrs I live in Lodi. I started as a caregiver ten years ago while looking for care for my father who was a retired Viet Nam Veteran. The agency who came to interview my father to see what his needs were, liked me so much they asked me to work for them. They are contracted through the V A and had lots of veterans who they said would benifit from my care so I stopped workung as a Dental receptionist and joined their team. My father passed away at home 3 years later in hospice during his illness I quit my job to be his caregiver and felt a strong desire to keep his legacy going by continuing to help those that can't help themselves. Just a year ago my husband had a brain aneurysm that caused a stroke where 6 months later he passed away at home in hospice where again I was his caregiver and needed to be there for him til the end. My heart goes out to familues who struggle with the pain of taking care of a loved one who is sick and even more so of a loved one who is in the end stages of life. Not only do I know how they feel but I understand their grief . I want to be the one who can comfort not only the patient but the family as well.

I'm proud to have been able to take care of my grand mother over the years. Especially when she went through breast cancer as well as terminal lung cancer. My family has always told me that I was drawn to helping fix sick or injured animals and people. I find that it is very rewarding to help aid someone in recovery as well as helping them maintain a sense of dignity and pride no matter what their affliction, medical needs or personal needs may be. I'm calm, patient, dependable, honest and find it easy as well as enjoyable to interact with a variety of personalities. I've also provided travel assistance and support to terminal clients who wanted to visit family and vacation.
My name is Monica Parra. Ever since sophomore year in high school ( by the way this was a very long time ago!) I have been involved as well interested in the healthcare industry. I have invested more than 10 years into home health care. When I say +10 years, I am expressing the time I began to take college courses and graduating programs to do that which brings me joy and pure fulfillment in life. I love helping people and I love challenge. It's an instinctive tendency of mine to provide the best care for people. I am well-versed with many illnesses esp. those common within elderly populations. I provide service for outpatient recovering from injuries or post-surgeries. My educational transcripts and professional experience strengthen the framework of my career, but what makes me an exceptional caregiver is the only thing that I believe matters most- my ability to empathize with the complex process of healing from traumatic events, terminal illness, ailments related with aging. I personally have experienced the (5) grieving stages firsthand with my own family and I treat every family with the care I would want for my family because I truly understand what you're all going through. I am convinced that is what makes life worth living: being more about giving to others, being self-less, and remaining grateful.
My long standing desire is to see senior loved-ones receiving excellent care by way of activity, companionship, mental awareness therapy, medical needs compliance. This is why I spent years in Fire, EMS and senior care services.......because we can't just let our seniors go without us. There will come a time when we need excellent care so be very sure to pay-it-forward. One of life's greatest rewards is to see "old age" and help someone to get there.
