I was born in Culver City, Ca. and raised by my grandparents there. I enjoyed gardening with my grandfather and knitting/crafting with my grandmother all the while listening to stories about life back in the islands and their journey to the US for opportunity of a better life. As I got older, I became my grandparents' caregiver. Caring for them is what interested me in this line of work. There is so much more to caregiving than meds reminder and assisting with ADL's or pillow fluffing. One must have empathy, patience and a great sense of humor (just to name a few) in this line of work. Honestly, I first became a caregiver because I understood job security, but quickly became my passion. One of my greatest accomplishments in caregiving was when I had to teach my son to walk again after having a major surgery. My heart was so overwhelmed because doctors said he wouldn't.
