Besides experience and knowledge I acquired from nursing school, helping others has always been my passion. I find joy and fulfillment knowing I make a difference in someone else's life. I am patient and willing to adjust to the needs of my clients. I try to put myself in their shoes, to try and understand them. I treat my patients with love and respect, and with dignity, just like how I would want to be treated if I was in their same situation. Since I was a young age, I have always been interested in helping other people. I enjoy helping others who have trouble helping themselves especially the elderly. I completed my vocational nursing studies in 2012 and it was at that point I realised that helping people is my calling. I love that being a caregiver, you can make a difference. It's a rewarding experience providing care and assistance to those who are no longer able to do so and to know that I have done my job right when I see smiles on their faces. The moments that make me most proud of as a care giver is when I see my patients doing well, seeing their happy faces.
I've been a caregiver for 31 yrs. I started in this field when I was just 17. I love what I do. I come from a medical family and decided at a very young age that i wanted to be a doctor or nurse. I specialize in geriatric dementia and Alzheimers care. Every client needs to know they're truly cared for on every level with love, patience, and kindness. I enjoy learning from them ... they often have amazing histories, stories and lessons to share.I'm often with my clients for the duration of their lives.
I was born in Culver City, Ca. and raised by my grandparents there. I enjoyed gardening with my grandfather and knitting/crafting with my grandmother all the while listening to stories about life back in the islands and their journey to the US for opportunity of a better life. As I got older, I became my grandparents' caregiver. Caring for them is what interested me in this line of work. However, if you love what you do, it all everything but work. There is so much more to care giving than meds reminder and assisting with ADL's or pillow fluffing. One must have empathy, patience and a great sense of humor (just to name a few) in this line of work. What makes ME stand out from the rest , besides my name , is my patience and ability to know what my client needs.

Hello! My name is Samantha (Sam) and I am a scientists who would like to get back into care giving. In my early 20's I was in nursing school and worked in a nursing home and a couple hospitals in Columbus Ohio. When I was caregiving I particularly liked working with Alzheimer and Dementia patients, I found that people inflicted with these disease's need to preform normal everyday activities in order to remain comfortable and I am more than willing to help. I enjoy helping with personal care, picking up around the house, and helping prepare meals. The personal achievement that I am most proud of is, in one year I will be the first in my family to get a bachelors degree.
I'm a compassionate and patient kind of person. I'm a single dad to a 9-year old daughter after taking care of my wife who died of cancer for 3 years. My mantra in life is to treat other people the way I wanted to be treated. My daughter is always saying that I'm too nice. People who would meet me and my daughter for the first time are saying that I'm raising my daughter as kind and polite as I am. I'm eager to learn new knowledge and open to suggestions. I would rather ask questions than pretend to know everything and fall short of the expectations. I always put myself in my patients'shoes to understand them better. It is not them but it's the illness that is making them not to be themselves at the moment. It feels great to be appreciated by the patient and their family for what i've done to lighten the everyday pain in their lives. I'm proud with what I do, and I find other ways to do my best by adding value to the career I've chosen to do.
