I am a very caring, kind, intelligent, respectful, and responsible. As for what attracted me to be a care giver is I see so many articles and shows on tv showing all of these residents being abused and it broke my heart and I wanted to make a difference so I decided to go to a technical high school were I got my CNA as well as all of my other certifications. What I enjoy most about being a care giver is the smiles I get when I do even the littlest thing s for my residents I am not saying it is always easy or picture perfect but I think of my residents as family members and treat them exactly how I would treat my own family member because you always have to think they did not ask to be in there situation and that is what I always refer back to. One of my personal achievements that I am proud of is I went to a technical high school and got all of my certifications there and now am currently attending a university to further my education while working per diem. As well as currently looking for a full time job so I can continue helping people while also saving money for college.

Being a caregiver is such an honor - it's all about putting away your needs to assist others. Knowing that your care and kindness can bring joy and happiness to someone else is priceless. The moments when you can reflect back and see how you have helped someone is what caregiving is all about.

It was 19 yrs ago when my mom dragged me to school w her to learn something new which happen to be Home Health Aide classes. This was back when HHAs needed to be certified w the state of CT. Anyhow make a long story short my 1st day of hands on in clinical I had the hardest resident any newbie would be intimidated by...but not me. The resident actually was wonderful and I handled my very first colostomy bag like I was born to do this kind of work. From there I worked hard and worked my way up to being a CNA and here it is almost 20yrs later and I am still here serving others the sick/disabled...young or elderly no matter what age or how hard the day may be for me I ALWAYS put my head to my pillow with a feeling of satisfaction like I can't explain to anyone. I will continue serving others till the good Lord tells me it's time to stop.

Hi my name is Tanya. I am 68. I have been in nursing or taking care of others since I was 17. I have loved every aspect of my nursing career. I retired in 2015 from Countryside Manor where I had been charge nurse on the Alzheimers unit since 1999. I retired to stay home and care for my elderly father and my husband who had suffered a stroke. My dad passed in September and my husband does well so I am now feeling the full impact of retirement......it's not for me! I am seeking a part time position I have worked with elderly or children. I would be very interested in providing so respite care.
