I became a certified nurses assistant in 1987 through state of Indiana. I continued for 23 years. I wanted this type of job since junior high. I love this type of work to see smiles and make tasks easier for those who have a hard time. I too may be there soon. I have done hospice experience for a year and caregiver work around 6 years.

I have 19 years of experience as a CNA. I am very compassionate and have a huge heart. I used to go to work with my mother as a child at the nursing homes. I knew then that's what I wanted to do when I was old enough. I truly take every patient as a member of my family. I enjoy spending quality time with each patient to fully meet their needs. I volunteered at Union Hospital for three summers before obtaining my CNA licenses in 2013. My grandmother had a double hip replacement and needed assistance with getting out of bed and just everyday life for several weeks. I took care of her and it opened my mind and heart to caring for others. I have been a CNA for 6 years and I learn more about it all the time of what it takes, how I can impact someones life. I enjoy making others smile when they do not feel like they can go on anymore. I have strong shoulders for family members to cry on and they have several times when a loved one passes.

I highly doubt writing an "about me" could possibly give you a complete understanding of myself as a person. Let alone myself... as a caregiver. I truly do believe I was put here on earth to "take care" of people, to help people. I have been a caregiver as far back as I can remember. Starting with my siblings. I can not recall a time where I was not taking care of someone or something. Working for Gardenview Manor as the assistant director of activities was truly my "dream job". Taking care of my residents, making sure they had what they needed. (Including yet not limited to physical and mental support. )My job was to "keep everyone happy" and I did just that. I came in everyday seeking every possible solution to any and every problem. If my residents were not content, I did not clock out. I stayed and made sure they got what they needed. That is simply how my heart is wired. There are not many people like myself. I say that with complete gumption and honesty.

I became a great caregiver because I hope someone takes care of me when I'm sick or elderly. Being a caregiver isn't just for the elderly; it's for everyone. I'm a very outgoing person and caring. I love my job as a caregiver!
