what attracted me to being a caregiver is talking to and helping the residents you really get to no the person and i think thats what I enjoy the most . As long as the resident is happy thats what makes me proud of myself to see the smiles on the person face.

Hello, my name is Karen Palmer. I started doing in-home health care in 2010. I knew at an early age that working in the healthcare field was something that I wanted to do. I believe it is my calling from God. Therefore, I put my all into the care I provide for each individual. A few of my personality traits are caring, compassionate, understanding, loyal, and trustworthy. What attracted me to becoming a caregiver is both of my parents were CNAs, and as a child, they often took us to visit their job. I can remember sitting there watching the residents and feeling the need to help. It has always been in my heart to help those in need, and I was placed on earth to care for those individuals when needed. The things I enjoy the most about being a caregiver are knowing I did my best to help someone and seeing how thankful they are that I could help. The personal achievements that I am most proud of are returning back to school, receiving a High School Diploma, and graduating from college with an Associate degree. I did something I never thought about doing, and I did it for my children and myself. I couldn't be more proud of myself for setting goals and seeing them through to the end.

I was raised by my Grandmother so I have an old soul. It was instilled in me to Respect my Elders, All People and their Property. I've worked since I was 14 years old. Every summer I enrolled in the Summer Youth Employment Program. I know the importance of being at work and being on time. Although I do work for the money, my pride in the work delivered earns me every dollar I make. Caring for others is my specialty and I make sure my clients know they're not a burden to me. What attracted me to becoming a caregiver is watching the nurses take care of my mom as she was passing from cancer. I love seeing the smiles on clients faces whenever I can make them happy. I'm proud of sticking to the health care field through covid.
