Being a caregiver is something that comes natural to me. As a young girl I watched my mom care for our elderly relatives and neighbors. I was always happy to assist her with helping others who couldn't help themselves. I enjoy showing great companionship to my patients. I love listening to their life stories, it helps me with getting to know and understand them. I treat patients how I would want someone to treat me or my loved ones if we were in the condition. The best reward I get from being a caregiver is knowing that I was able to help give someone a better quality of life because they're no longer able to do it on their own. I always be sure to treat my patients with respect and dignity.

I have worked in places from the ER, to the hospitals, nursing homes and in people's homes. I believe your loved one has the right to live the best life they can even when they are not feeling their best, battling a sickness or are elderly. It's not my job to be their boss as I work for them. I enjoy seeing them still do whatever they can to live the best life they can. I love helping people it gives me a sense of joy and warms my soul. It makes me a better person, it has taught me patience and to enjoy every moment of everyday even when it's not the greatest of days. I am proud of the mom I am. My children have the same compassionate spirit as me and enjoy helping people. I truly love what I do and the community of people that I have the pleasure to share my time with.

HELLO! My career as a caregiver started with a chronically ill father. Throughout my childhood and in my early teens my dad was very ill with diabetes Type 1. When I was 5 years old my dad lost his eyesight. As a preteen I participated in his care helping with blood sugar readings and Insulin injections. When I was able to drive I help out by taking him to doctor's appointments. I went away to college and lived in Florida for a few years and as my dad became progressively worse I moved home. I became increasingly involved in his care as my mother was worn out and had a very full-time job. At that point I decided to change career paths and go to nursing school. My love of taking care of people is a direct result of the experience I had administering Loving Care to my father . I considered to be a dedicated and resourceful Private Duty Nurse. I've worked in private care cases Until I obtained my certificate as a Personal Care Aid in 2008. I obtained my CNA (certified nursing certificate) shortly after. The last hospital setting I worked in for 3 yrs was The Veterans hospital of Albany. I've also worked at the Boy's and Girls club of Albany before going on a maternity leave. Ive always held a position in home care. I really love being able to be a positive force within everyone's day but more especially to those in need. I've been a caregiver since I was 18 years old. I started out as a CNA in a nursing home and then I went and did homecare down in South Carolina and up in New York. I now work at a hospital in Hudson. I love being able to help patients to meet their goals. I have just started doing my prerequisites for nursing school so I can further my career in healthcare.

I started out with the desire to be a caregiver after helping to take care of my great grandmother as a child. Also my mom and grandmother are both nurses. I enjoyed being able to help people who need help. What makes me good at what I do is my compassion. I love people, all kinds of people. I have taken care of all ages, from all over the world. I learn who they are, where they are from, what they like, and what they believe in. And from there I respect all their wishes and do everything I can to ensure they are happy and well taken care of.
