I was 15 years old and just started my freshman year of high school when I was placed in a class called Intergenerational Studies. For 2 hours each day I was taken to the nursing home called Golden Years there in Elgin, Tx. I started off just getting residents from their rooms to come and do activities with me. But it wasn't long and I was working side by side with CNAs, RNs, and at one point the DON had me shadow her for 2 weeks. I just got really interested and a few years after graduation and having my son, I pursued a CNA certification and was assigned the hospice hall and the "lockdown unit" which was occupied by the more violent patients and those with conditions such as Alzheimer's and/or parkinson's, as well as those with behavioral health conditions. I honestly just fell in love with everything about caring for the elderly. Even the hard and very emotional side of the care I provide is something I wouldn't want to stop doing. I would love to get my CNA back but just haven't attempted to do so since my husband passed in 2011. Since my high school days I have worked with all ages of people, from a 2 year old little princess to a 98 year old gentleman I referred to as Fred Astaire due to them looking like twins. He loved it and would smile so big when I walked in every day; and every day he would say "Good morning Ms. Judy (Garland). You feel like dancing the day away?" It's things like that for which I love my work. Please feel free to ask anything, I would love to tell everything now but there is just so much I've been blessed to have experienced with so many different people I'd never be done.

I am careful, safe, organized and coordinated in transporting clients for their needs whether it is for picking up medications, getting them to and from their appointments, filling out forms, helping with their shopping, all personal care service for their daily living for and anytime they want some simple conversation and just not be alone. To give and share with clients, one must be compassionate and patient and have an understanding that those needing care would like for the caregiver to understand their needs. There happens to be an advantage to being a caregiver that can put themselves in the shoes and situation of those with the need. My joy is realized when the needs are filled and the cared for people are grateful and thankful. I want to give the care and experience the joy often. I have experienced this joy with my parents as I cared for them. Currently I am a part-time caregiver for various clients providing them all the assistance they may need. Professional and courteous, always on time. Administering medication and food through a gastric tube. Bathing and attending to other personal hygiene and grooming needs. Food preparation and feeding client, according to strict dietary requirements and procedures Cleaning and light housekeeping (client's laundry, dishwashing, cleaning spaces used by client and caregivers, cleaning therapy equipment) Assisting with therapies (cognitive, speech, occupational) and range-of-motion exercises, including manual transfers to and from bed to assist client with weight-bearing and balance exercises. General companionship and interaction with client (i.e. reading books, cognitive therapies). Driving client to and from appointments and activities in a client-provided wheelchair accessible van.

I'm very caring and have an outgoing personality. I'm proud to be a caregiver and have been for the last 10 years. I enjoy the little things and try to give back to my community and others.

I've been an LVN for about 6 years now and I just received my RN license in December of 2020, but caring for and about others has been a lifetime goal. I'm a true believer of the Golden Rule: treat others the way you want to be treated. Caring for others, especially in times of vulnerability and great need, is my greatest passion. As a caregiver, I hope to gain valuable experience that will make me a better nurse as I pursue my second Bachelors degree.

I always give 100% and do the best job I can, with no exceptions or excuses. I also try to bring a sense of humor to my work. If I can add a smile or laugh to a client’s day, that means a lot to me. It is important to laugh. One of the best qualities as a caregiver is my ability to be empathic. I understand that my client may feel vulnerable, scared, confused and uncomfortable, and being able to identify and allay these fears can create a sense of calm and trust for those being cared for.

Hi, I'm Becca :) I am 28 yr old, nursing student. No kids not married. Workaholic! I have been in health care for 10 years. I have done home health, hospital, and assisted living and travel nursing. I have worked neonates to geriatric. I've gained knowledge on different medical techniques, diagnoses, and how each patient acquires care differently. I am a people person, honest is the best policy. I have a heart for others, take care of them as you would as if your own family. Enjoy most is that I get to help the client and the family and show my appreciation and care for their family member. Personal achievement is that I am finally in nursing school and I am content with my life and how hard I have worked to be here. I have no family in Texas. I do have a puppy named Moxi! My very first pet on my own. It's been rough at times but honestly friends and family make life better it showed me support teams are everything. Being a caregiver/CNA/Nurse you are on someone's support team through good and bad. That is important to me, With all that being said, I'll probably be the caregiver that will be playing music, playing chess with your loved one ! Need help with things let me know, want something done a certain way just tell me. I am pretty easygoing, but I do like structural organization. I do talk a lot, if its to much tell me, I ensure my clients are taken care of, all tasks on hand are completed before the shift is over. I feel building a relationship with the client and family is important!
