A great caregiver is someone who is kind, compassionate, and loving by nature. A generous, sensitive spirit can't be taught only given by the Creator Himself. Caregiving found me. The elderly, children, and animals bring joy to my heart. If I can bring a little peace and comfort into the life of another person I feel I've done what the Master called me to do. My career as a caregiver began by working in a nursing home facility over a year ago. I worked with respiratory patients, wound care patients, dementia patients, HIV patients, hospice patients, Alzheimer patients, and handicapped patients who had all of their faculties but because of missing limbs were unable to stay at home. I learned to give very basic to advanced care. While the level of care changed the one thing that remained constant was the need for a kind word. I was often asked to go into a room and communicate with a difficult patient because there was something about my calm voice and gentle nature that turned every tide into smooth sailing. I left the facility because it was heartbreaking. It should have been a place where every worker enjoyed working there. Instead finding someone who enjoyed their work was a rarity. I believe private duty will be much more fulfilling.
What makes me a great caregiver is that I'm truly an advocate for the safety and well-being of the patient. I'm my eyes, there's no wrong door. I do all I can to make sure my patient is very well taken care of and has what they need. I love helping others; especially those that are unable to help themselves.

Hi, I am a jovial, outgoing individual and I am a great care giver because I enjoy people and serving people where I can. I believe that being a caregiver allows me to truly serve people and help where help is needed the most and that is something that is very rewarding for me. I am also in school to become a Registered Nurse and being a caregiver has been an amazing stepping stone to my field of choice and I believe that it is continuously preparing me to be an amazing Nurse one day very soon. One moment in my care giving experience that I am most proud of is when I was caring for a woman in the late stages of Parkinson's disease. She was difficult to understand and it was difficult for past caregivers to communicate with her. I initiated teaching her Yes and No in American Sign Language and she was able to use her better hand to respond to questions that I asked. I also initiated the company getting a communication device for her as to provide a better route of communication for future caregivers. Thank you so much for your consideration of me providing care to your loved one .
I became a Caregiver because I love taking care of the elderly. I treat my patients as I would want my grandmother treated and that's very well. I like being a caregiver because you are helping someone who can no longer help themselves. They can make your day just by saying thank you and I have a lot of compassion for the elderly. A personal achievement that I was proud of was working with physical therapy with their Restorative Program, or when a resident was losing weight and I made sure she ate to put those pounds back on she had lost.
