I decided to become a caregiver when I watched my great grandparents go through Alzheimer's. Seeing the way some of the nurses would treat their other patients made me feel very worried about the way my grandparents were being treated, but at the time I was still in high school, so I couldn't do much for them other than be there to talk to them. As of now I'm in school to be an X-Ray tech (interning now). I work for a (Podiatrist), and I love it! We have so many elderly patients, and I just enjoy being able to care for them and listening to their stories. I'm not a CNA, but I can easily be trained for whatever! I have experience with ulcers on the feet and legs, I'm CPR Certified, and I can take vitals. I am also HIPPA and OSHA certified. Please keep in my mind!
Caregivers that work non-full-time jobs or irregular shifts can negotiate extra compensation in addition to their standard hourly wage.
