The first reason is that I am able to be there for individuals that are in need of help. Another reason I enjoy being a caregiver is because, My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and after the cancer went into remission shortly afterwards, she was diagnosed with dementia. My career as a caregiver began with taking care of both my parents. My father had cancer and my mother had dementia. I was working as well while taking care of my parents. After they passed away and in 2012 my job where I was working was outsourced, I decided I wanted to make a career of being a caregiver. I went to CTK Healthcare and Career Institute to obtain my CNA certification. Since 2013 to current I have worked privately and with agencies as a caregiver. My skills and duties are to perform light housekeeping, light meal preparations, assist with shower and dressing, medication reminders, assist with shopping for groceries and putting them away, assist with pet care, and companionship. I enjoy interacting with my clients and helping them have a safe, healthy , and clean environment to live in. I understand the challenges of caretaking as well as the stress of a loved one's health changes and needs changing from taking care of my parents. I find great joy in life being there for others and help make there day less stressful.
