About Nancy

I became a caregiver when I decided to leave teaching, and have been extremely successful at finding positions as a private contractor. I quickly learned that my education and background were very useful in forming close bonds with my clients and their families. I consistently maintain a positive outlook and tailor my care to the individual, researching their disease, their background, and family history to establish common bonds and maintain a professional approach to work.

Caregiver and companion

Andrew Schlosser
The family asked that I relocate from Austin to Dallas for their mother, who suffered from MS as well as psychotic dementia. When we moved to Dallas, she was placed in a skilled nursing facility, which meant that my role was more case supervisor than hands on caregiver. When she was hospitalized for a serious UTI and a mild case of pneumonia, her sons and I agreed that she would receive better care with a hospice organization. I worked with Vitas Hospice to arrange visits with a rabbi, as well as to maintain her medications in order to keep the psychosis under control. I used materials provided by professionals to attempt to keep her mind in as much order as possible. I was also successful in using music therapy to help keep her calm.

I'm a talkative friendly & outgoing person. I am passionate about nursing and health care....especially for the elderly! I went to school to be a nursing assistant when I was in my late 40's because straight out of college I got married (32 years now!) and had two daughters. AFTER the youngest one graduated from high school in 2010, I was then able to pursue my real dream of getting certified to be able to care for clients and hopefully make their lives a bit better!
