I know there is a caregiver shortage and I would like to help because I enjoy the company of elderly people. I like hearing their life stories and helping them have a quality life. When I was growing up, my grandmother was very influential on me and taught me to be understanding and help people. I think elderly people make me feel like I'm in her presence again, which is why I enjoy it. My father-in-law also has early onset dementia and I sit with him to give my mother-in-law her own time to herself because I feel it is important for her health and well-being.
