Many people call me an "old soul" but I am in my early twenties. I have been a caregiver for five years and it has helped me enjoy the company of others. I enjoy meeting new people and seeing things from other's point of view. I aim to provide the utmost respect to my clients and their family members. I am often trusted with multiple tasks and can tackle challenging tasks quickly. I treat my job as a privilege because being a caregiver takes patience and compassion, and I am grateful to be a caregiver. My time as a caregiver began when my grandmother became ill and needed assistance. I was by her side for the time that was allowed, and I enjoyed every minute. After she passed, I started volunteering at nursing homes as a companion. I got to learn more about everyone personally, and that motivated me to want to be a caregiver after high school. Throughout the past years, I have provided caregiver assistance to many people. I love being a caregiver because it allows me to build connections, not only with the client but the family as well. I can understand, first hand, that being a twenty-four hour seven day a week caregiver can be difficult/stressful for family members to do on their own, especially if they have never done it before. If I can alleviate some of that stress, whether it is for a few hours or a few days out of the week, I will do anything in my power to make that happen. A personal achievement that I am proud of is that I graduated from Texas Wesleyan University with a bachelor degree in business administration. With this degree I plan on helping my mother, who is also a caregiver, start her own group home.
