I became a Caregiver back in 1983 when my sister was born an see got sick an stayed in the hospital for 3 months well during that time she became mentally ill an she needed special care. She had a feeding tube an a trac put in her throat. My mother had to learn how to clean an change both. My mother really didn't understand what was really going on an she only had a 6 grade education. So at the time i was 15 an i had to take the classes to learn how to care for my sister. I had to teach my mother an family how to take care of her. So that's why I decided to become a caregiver. I love being a caregiver b ecause it's rewarding for me to take care of people an meeting different people. My personal achievement that I'm proud of was able to teach not only my mother but my entire family how to take care of my sister. I have done this this for over 25 years an I love it. I have tried other jobs but i always find myself coming back being a caregiver. I'm 46 years old I have 5 kids which are all grown at this point 6 1/2 grand-children. I love cooking spending time with my family. I'm a good worker I'm always on time willing to work on days off.. I love working with people an there family an help the family find other resources for there love one. I'm currently going to Lone Star College to get me AA in Human Services. It's so many resources out there that family's don't know about an i want to help to the family find the best possible care for there love ones ... more
