Having compassion for others is something that you are born with but should be learned at a greater value throughout your life. Caring for other has been something I have enjoyed doing. I started volunteering at the very young of age of 10. However, when I volunteered at a nursing home in high school that is where I found the need for a person like me. I worked many jobs caring for children but it wasn't until late 2007 where I realized what I truly wanted to do. It is only fair that we can receive quality care. I have 8 years of experience. Many of my duties included but were not limited to medication management, personal hygiene care, wound care, errands, doctors' appointments and home care. I also have experience working with patients and their physical therapy. I have worked with patients that suffer from Alzheimer's, dementia, strokes, COPD, along with some that have been terminally ill with different types of cancer. One of the most important duties if not the most important part was to build a strong and trustworthy relationship with my patient. This to me is the most important factors in being able to provide the most successful care to my patients. ... more
