About Mary

I came up in a small community where everyone was considered a neighbor. If someone was ill or in their hour of passing everyone would pitch in and lend a helping to give the family member a time of relief to mentally and physically get themselves a moment of rest. So when it came time to think about my career in life this is what I decided to do, because I saw how much this could help in society. I have reached the satisfaction that I wanted because I have also been able to help a lot of family members, and I have made a great amount of true friends over my years of caregiving. I like watching scary movies, fishing, playing video action games, and most of all I love family togetherness.

    check in at nurses station to get report, check to see if all residents are okay to the best of caregivers knowledge, report back to charge if there is any sign of stress with residents or if everything is alright, showers grooming, incontinence care, bed bathes, get residents up and makes sure they are appropriately dressed for meals, put back down those who are scheduled to go back to bed, give remaining showers if any are required, last two hours of shift makes sure everyone is comfortable, clean and dry, and in bed. pass out and feed supplemental snacks to those who did not eat well or wanted a snack so that they would not hungry in the middle of the night and fresh water for everyone and ice for those who requested it, give report and go home and wind down from all the daily excitement.

    Get report of what is going on with residents at beginning , check in all residents to make sure all is okay with them before previous shift leaves, and make sure count of residents correct, pick up laundry to be washed and returned at last round of shift, answer call lights and report to med techs for meds or skin tears or something you can not take care of, mop and clean and dust welcoming area and three of the public bathrooms clean laundry rooms and make sure they are in a neat order, every hour check on wanderers, and every two hours on all others for fall precautions, mop, vacuum, clean and set dining area for breakfast and serve some breakfast for early risers that can ambulate on their own, check and clean smoking area to make sure everything remains safe, take time to communicate with resident that appear to be confused lonely or just bored and depressed, all incontinent care at end of shift and give report and when shift is over and always report everything to your med Tech.

    I was hired as a hydration aide and shower and grooming aide, hydration aide was to prevent urinary tract infections, and supplemental liquids such as thicken fluids, water and juices to attain weight stability and weight gain, and shower and grooming and oral care for personal hygiene improvement and requirement, and sometimes I would come in any shift as personal sitter for more difficult patients that needed more personal attention in order to prepare them to go home or other care facilities, fingernails, toenails that did not require a podiatrist, and assist the aides on the floor with two people assist clients on the floor, sometimes I would carry a group of patients on my own .that I would have to do.
