About Stacey

I am a caregiver who has a great deal of practical experience with children, teens and the elderly. I have also worked with special needs clients in a variety of capacities. Sometimes I have the sense that there couldn't be a great deal more that I haven't experienced or much that I haven't heard, but my clients offer me the chance to relate, to learn, to reflect and to collaborate! I believe that meeting so many diverse people, interacting with them and making a meaningful difference in their lives is what draws me to the work that I do. There is something to be said for being comfortable in your own skin. I am, and feel that this allows me to relate well to many clients and to be supportive of their families as well. Humor, warmth, an open-ended curiosity and enthusiasm are my core personality traits and most people respond well to them. I became a caregiver because it was a natural fit for my gifts- I enjoy caring for people, advocating for them and interacting with them. I believe in the inherent value of each person and also in the importance of each person taking responsibility for making their own personal choices to the greatest extent possible. Caregivers often find ourselves acting as resources- offering our labor, insight, energy and emotional support in all kinds if contexts. It can be significant work if it is approached mindfully and done with excellence. The greatest enjoyment I derive from my work, aside from relating to my charges through collaboration and advocacy, is found in the opportunity to be creative. Solving problems or finding better ways to do things is a passion I have. I have a unique opportunity as a caregiver in that my job will include homemaking, social support and advocacy, medical, educational and legal research as needed and many other opportunities to learn something new and implement something helpful.

In my second year, I educated their youngest child at home to prepare him for private school. I organized and supervised homework, music and sports teachers, playdates and minor medical appointments. My duties also included transportation, light housekeeping, meals for the children and living in during those times when both parents traveled for business as well as vendor vetting and other duties as directed.
