I became a caregiver because I have always enjoyed helping people. It made me feel good and also the people I helped. My friends thought I should become a caregiver. Since most of my career was spent in the corporate arena, I didn't think I would qualify to be a caregiver. When my partner was diagnosed with Alzheimer disease, I needed to be home with him. I decided to call a caregiver agency and they hired me on the spot. I had the best of both worlds, I could help clients part time and also be home to help my partner. I loved the assignments and helping people. I enjoyed listening to their stories from the past. My personal achievement that I am most proud of are raising my two children. They are adults now and both are beautiful human beings. I have 2 teenage grandsons that are well behaved and stay out of trouble. I am very proud of all of them. I am at the retirement age, but I don't want to retire yet. I enjoy being a caregiver and will continue as long as I am able. I am a widow, and live alone, so I have no responsibilities at home that would keep me from accepting any assignments. ... more
