About Linda

I am 49, single and I am a people person. I am a certified PCA/HHA and I feel that it is necessary to help others as much as I can. I have two older brothers and an Autistic niece. We are a close family and we enjoy movies and cookouts and church. I was the caregiver to my mother and my father before they died and one of my sisters. Sickness can make you realize the true value of your family, life and health. The more we grow older, the more we appreciate walking and talking and breathing!!! I am a born caregiver but I know that I have to take care of myself too. I do not drive...however, I am studying the driver's manual. I love to laugh, and to sing, and I am a good cook. I am horrible at checkers and bowling, but I still participate.

    Experience & Education

    Home Health Aide/Companion

    Mar 2015 - Oct 2015
    Diana Yesensky for Belinda Horn
was her traveling companion and her personal care aide. I helped her with bathing and grooming, dressing and picking jewelry and clothes for everyday and special occasions. I cooked and prepared her meals, reminded her to take her meds and went shopping and walking with her. Her family and I worked well together and I kept them informed of any changes I observed in her behavior and her eating habits. I helped her to stay on schedule checking her blood sugar and pressure, helped her to maintain good oral care and walked her small Corgie dog with her. We also went swimming, but she swam and I just floated. We even went hiking in Lynchburg. We watched television together and enjoyed music together, church and gardening. When she was depressed, we would talk about her family and the things she liked and sometimes I had to give her room to just quietly sit and enjoy her space, then she would let me know when she wanted to have my company.

    Thompson Family (private)
When my niece was 3 mos.old, I became her caretaker when her mother returned to work. My father was then diagnosed with prostate cancer, and I began taking care of him. My mother and my father became ill in the same year, and I was the one able to help out. A few years later, my sisters became ill and I had to help them also, but through it all, we were a family...After my parents and my sisters died, I moved to Chesapeake to start a new life and to breathe.
