Hi! My name is Kathie. I have been caregiving one way or another most of my life & I believe it is my calling. After my parents passed away ( my best friends), I became a Certified Nursing Assistant & began working in a nursing home, which included all levels of Care, such as Long Term Care, Short Term Care,Rehabilitation, Alzheimers, Independent & Assisted Living. I felt I had something special to offer to those in need of assistance, whether it be with a little help, or alot. I have been on both sides of what families are going through & know how important it is to find the best help possible. I became a caregiver back in September of 2020. I was a caregiver to my great grandfather for 3 years before he had passed. I have a huge heart for the elder and children. I love helping others and I'm eager to make everything right.

I am 22 years old , Currently a college student studying nursing! I have Successfully finished all my pre requisitions and have a lot of knowledge in patient care! I have experience with many different care levels. I have 2 years experience in home health and 2 years of acute, long term, and dementia care. I come from a family of nurses, so at a young age I have found a passion in being a caregiver. I take pride in my care! With my experience I have learned this is the most difficult time for family and clients! I find comfort in limiting the stress while assuring their loved one is well tooken care of! I am a hold a valid CNA,CPR, and dementia certification ! I'm hoping to use my knowledge to help a family find comfort during this difficult time.

I began my career in dentistry. I graduated from Indiana University with a certificate in Dental Assisting and earned my Expanded Functions of Dental Assisting in 1996 and went on to be a sophomore in dental hygiene and pre dental. While attending dental hygiene I became married and had my son Gabriel. During this time I took time away from school to stay home with my baby! When he was two I went to work as a Dental Assistant again. During this time I noticed Drs treating patients as numbers instead of people. So my nurse friend asked if I would like to work as a home health aide/ caregiver for home health Visiting Angels. I started working with Visiting Angels in 2013. And I found my purpose!! I worked with hospice, Alzheimer's, dementia, Parkinson's, stroke, and being a companion. I have a lot of experience with medication reminders, bathing hygiene, ect. The thing I enjoy most about caregiving/ home health aide is putting smiles on my patients faces, helping them as much as I can so they know they are cared about. I treat each patient as I would want my family taken care of!! I'm very compassionate and patient. I give over 100% And I absolutely love what I do. I can go home at night knowing I helped someone, I put a smile on their faces or held their hand. I not only help them but they help me as well.

I am a very outgoing caring person. I started the health field when I was 18 because my aunts a nurse and got me a job at her nursing home. I enjoy making relationships with my residents getting to know their life is so interesting to me.

For the past 15 years I have worked with the elderly population, mentally disabled adults and children along with individuals who are physically disabled. I am currently working on my Masters in Human Services. I find it a great joy to help individuals and also help them keep their independence. The best part about being a caregiver is seeing the person you help smile and satisfied. A personal achievement I am happy with is the fact that I am almost done with my Masters after one more year of college.
