I have always had a heart for caring for people but my passion grew stronger when my mother passed away. I love being able to help a love one with everyday living. Not only assisting them with everyday care but keeping them as independent as possible. There are many things that keep me interested in being a caregiver but the most important one,I can be there for someone else's love one. I am a certified nursing assistant of 6 years,4 years of mental health and geriatric.

About Me? I have the most enjoyable personality imaginable ( I love life), and I enjoy giving people the ability to enjoy life through me, whether it's something as simple as listening to favorite past times. (a smile goes a long way). Outside of that though my compassion for caring for others stems from wanting to see a person make progress and continue their independence for as long as they are able to do so. To be able to bring ease and peace of mind to someone when I'm with them is one of my goals. It's enough someone unfamiliar is in the home, that's why it's important to make people feel comfortable while being assisted. Let me share a personal achievement of mine. PATIENCE. That achievement was achieved long before I became a caregiver after watching a family member suffer. Honestly I could go on and on about what I can do what I will do but truth of the matter is you have to meet me personally to know Me. I believe what makes me a great caregiver is being a compassionate and patience person. I tend to look at the person who I care for as if I'm taking care of my mother or grandmother. Hello my name is Joy I am 47 years old I have been a caregiver for 28 years I am a very loving caring person have a good personality I really love taking care of the elderly I decided when I was 17 years old I would be a caregiver and went to school to be a CNA when I was taking care of my grandmother I love caring for people that need me my greatest achievement was whenever I was taking care of a lady that had been in the bed for 10 years and I was able to get her out of the bed into the wheelchair and let her enjoy the outside and take her so she could go shopping for her own food and enjoy life again

I became a caregiver after Covid began in 2020 and I was laid off from the law office I was working at due to it being closed to the public. I found a job working as a home health aid and caregiver and within a week I had a full time schedule of regular clients. A few of whom remained my clients during the entire duration of my employment there. I was always requested to stay on as a clients assigned caregiver when I'd fill in for someone or pick up an open shift, sadly the office always had to inform them my schedule was full and there was a waiting list of people who had already requested that they received a phone call when or if a time slot that fit their schedule became open on mine. I was employee of the month in February of 2021 and was asked to stay on and just be open to take weekend or occasional jobs when I resigned in June of 2021. I was sad but had been offered a job to pursue my notary commission that I have had since 2014 and I needed the extra money, but I did accept the offer to not resign but remain available to take occasional jobs. I was so busy at my new place of employment and completely burnt out that there wasn't ever an open day for me to work for them as a caregiver after that, but it was only due to the overwhelming amount of work and stress of the new job I had accepted without being completely aware of what I had jumped into. I wasn't informed of many aspects and also told that my hours would be 40/hrs a week on average and rarely exceed that. I ended up working long 12 hour days for months and missed my laid back and flexible job caring for other people and having no stress during that time. I realized that caregiving came naturally to me and during that time, I experienced more job satisfaction and overall happiness than I had experienced in any previous 8-5. I've decided to jump back into that and see what future clients I may get to know in the future.
