I started taking care of my grandmother at the young age of 8, from then on I decided to be a caregiver because it is a rewarding experience to see the smile on any elderly face. Personal achievement are getting my certification in home health aide and nursing assistant, my next achievement is going to school to receive my nursing degree.

Ever since my mother was diagnosed in 2016 with kidney cancer, I've taken a newfound appreciation for home health care. I helped my father and younger sister care for our mother in her last years. My family has instilled a kindness in me that I carry with me every single day, as it's part of who I am, of who they raised me to be. My parents taught me about how to reflect the love I've been given in my life back out into the world, and there's not a day that goes by that I don't think about how I can make a difference. I've learned a lot in my life about patience, about knowing to remain joyful in every day, as we are never promised tomorrow. I've been a caregiver for my father in the last few years as well, and I'll never regret that. Being someone who will listen, who will show up and be there for the ones we love, that is what is important to me. I hope I can be that pillar of support for others in my life, and I'm inspired by my parents kindness to do so. I enjoy being able to give others a chance at independence, to feel better about their situations knowing it doesn't have to be done alone. Helping my family in their time of need has been my greatest achievement, because at the end of the day the connections I carry through this life are what matter the most to me. I'm always wanting to learn, wanting to elevate my understanding of this life in how we can help each other, and my goal is to continue to bring that kindness instilled to me to every table I sit at in my life. My father and sister have lived their whole lives with diabetes, so I'm very familiar with treatments and knowing the signs for potential lows or highs in blood sugar levels. I believe in respecting people who need support and allow myself to be available however I can in their day to day life. I keep myself in good shape and have no problems with assisting in any heavy lifting a client may need.

My name is Onye but everyone calls me Red because nobody can usually pronounce it. I love helping people in need and mainly love caregiving because I'm able to help people who really need assistance and hopefully make them feel better and feel that they are not alone and that they mean something and people care about their wellbeing. I have a great amount of experience in being a caregiver I actually started very young. At the age of 8 I started being my mom's assistant caring for people and my first patient was my grandmother I cared for her for many years as she became more sick my responsibility grew I was responsible for bathing, cleaning, laundry, hygiene and more but the part I loved the most was the good talks that we had I was able to make her feel alright and happy and not alone until the day she passed. I would love to continue to do those things for people around the world if I am given the opportunity it makes me so happy and makes me feel like a good person. I worked 25 years in the Rutherford County School System as a Custodian and a Lunchroom Worker. I learned many skills in my years working there. How to be a team player was one of the many skills I learned. My references included 3 Principal's that I worked for.
