I have been in the health field for over 13+ years, I've worked at a nursing home throughout college. Went to LPN school (still have to sit boards) My most recent employer was a 74 year young lady with Parkinson's. I worked with her for 10 years. I was what she called her "Girl Friday" I did everything from medication reminders and dispensing, to hiring aides, payroll, care for her cats, ran errands, shopped for her, brought her to all appointments, Cooked for her, house cleaning, bathing, dressing, toileting and companionship ( we were incredibly close) I am a very dependable and reliable caregiver. I am kind, caring and considerate. I love taking care of the elderly. I can truly say I am good at what I do, and take enormous pride in my care.

I grew up in a family of 10 and, being the 3rd to oldest, it came with a lot of responsibility. By 7 years old I could change, feed and put a baby to sleep. With this experience, came a sense of empathy for those in need. Caring for others has always been a morally rewarding task and I plan on assisting others for as long as possible. Im a loving,caring,reliable and passionate person. I've worked as a caregiver and personal care aide for 10 years. I have experience as a CNA and HHA. I enjoy working in the clients home so there's more one on one time with the clients to do care and pampering. I enjoy working with clients when work being done helps gain and benefit themselves .

In 2016 I began my time working in Direct Care with a desire to succeed, and the confidence that I can make a positive contribution to the individuals whome I care for. Over the years, I demonstrated dedication to my work and vision by giving insight for better planning, organization, and being naturally scheduled oriented and rarely missing scheduled work days, as well as completing all documentation required. I've also consistently took on additional responsibilities. For example, I took the initiative to become Medication Certified, not only for my benefit, but also for the care of my individuals. I regularly work extra shifts when required. Co-workers recognize my skills and aptitude for problem-solving and demonstrate their confidence in my knowledge by coming to me for advice on a variety of subjects, and work related topics.

I love people and love to provide and share love that was gifted to me by this life. Caring for others brings me joy and love. The best gift is to see others happy and smile, their eyes full of joy and happiness makes the best gift. I work full-time in LTC during the day and have been in medical field since 2007. I started with home health care then continued on to be a CNA from 2009-2014 and I've been an LPN since 2014. Absolutely love what I do and would be more than happy to extend my services to those in their homes. I have a flexible schedule during evening and weekend and some availability during day.

What makes me a great caregiver? Excellent question. I am very very respectful, even if an elderly person is becoming frail and/or senile, it's important to remember that they are a person with a lot of experience, and a person who was once able to stand on their own two feet. I am also very empathetic; Ageing can be a confusing and difficult process for some older people, as tasks they used to find simple become a challenge that needs to be overcome. I am also very very reliable. What attracted me to being a caregiver? I enjoy working with people and most enjoy jobs where you have one-on-one interaction with others. I enjoyed taking care of elder family members and would like to help others in this way. I like older adults and feel you can get along well with a variety of elders. I doing work that has the potential to make a difference in someone's life. I like doing a variety of tasks in a day. I don't ever say, "that's not my job" but instead like pitching in to do whatever is needed. I like making someone smile and doing little things to make a person's day better. I take pride in your attention to detail. I don't want a desk job; you like being physical in your job and using your body as well as your brain. I am seeking a career with growing opportunities. I don't want to invest in many years of formal education but you are willing to learn new skills and take continuing education to do your job well. I feel that when you are older, I'd want someone like myself there to help me if I need help. What do I enjoy most about being a caregiver? I think just meeting peoples' needs. Sometimes it's not a glamorous job but you leave and the people feel like they have been treated with dignity. Their needs are met, they're comfortable or as comfortable as you can help them become. It's a very important thing for me. Not that it has to be glamorous, but just their smiles. It's just a very rewarding thing.

I love helping and seeing a smile on people's faces. Anything for a good time is worth it.

I have been a caregiver for a few years now. In those few years, i have learned valuable lessons that will stay with me forever. Lessons taught by other staff or a patient. They can't teach you everything in a classroom, you have to learn somethings hands on, and those are the lessons I will never forget. Being a caregiver has taught me how to put others needs before my own, it has taught me gratitude and selflessness. Being a caregiver isn't about just doing your job, it's about compassion. I treat all of my clients as if they are family, because in reality they will become a second family.
