I took care of my husband who passed after 19 years of cancer, my grandparents , who both suffered from Alzheimer's. Spent numerous years working in a rest home & for private clients in their home. Here I've learned many skills for many areas where disease affects family. If you choose me to be a part of your care team I'm confident I can complete any task asked of me. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is the fact I get to make someone else life more easier,and also letting them know I'm there for them.

I am capable of being a great care giver because I am attentive and not judgemental. I became a caregiver by accident, my mother lost her memory with little warning, (she was handing her own affairs well and within a few days she was incapable of managing her own affairs), and soon after lost her ability to walk, at the time I was unemployed and so became a caregiver. In spite of not having given this line of work any previous consideration. Becoming a caregiver for people outside my family acquainted me with how other people lived. My interest has always been people and spending a considerable amount of time in homes, allows me insights that other jobs don't give. Growing up I always enjoyed my grandmother recalling the life experiences that made her the type of person she was. I take pride in being a unique individual and not being just like everyone else. I am not just a member of a collective.

Well what I will enjoy about working as a caregiver is getting to know the person and learning how to assist with with everyday tasks Also being there to listen and giving them time for conversation and social needs.

A personal achievement that I am proud of is that when I worked as a receptionist in the optical, within the 3 weeks they offered me a higher position which was a "optical technician".
