About Elaine

After leaving a high stress job in manufacturing aircraft engines, went to school to learn to work in a field I could enjoy. That turned out to be cooking and I applied for and got a job as a cook in large senior center. After 7 years I moved into the activity department and found my passion. Keeping seniors busy, involved and happy is the best job I ever had. I worked in the activity department for 10 years then retired from Wesley Homes 2 years ago. I miss my seniors every day. I am looking for that feeling of caring and being appreciated that only seniors can bring. I strive to keep myself active and believe that helping seniors to remain active is as good for me as for them.

    Experience & Education

    Activity coordinator

    Wesley Homes
Sending out 350 puzzles a week to challenge the residents mentally. Also planned, scheduled and hosted activities, such as Brain Olympics, that focused on social interaction as well as physical and mental challenges. The monthly resident activity calendar was my responsibility. It not only included my activities but all the events at Wesley Homes. I also posted the calendar on the Wesley calendar on the website at wesleyhomes.org so that resident families and prospective residents could review what activities are available day to day. Wesley has a closed circuit TV station that is operated by the residents. I worked with them and put activity ads on TV so that another source of information was available. I also would accompany the residents on outings to assist those that may need a little help getting around. I came to be known as The Puzzle Lady. A title I became proud of, for sure.
