After having my first child and becoming an instant caregiver, I realized I had been sitting at desks too long and missing out on life. I decided to become a CNA and create an ideal work/home balance doing what I really have a calling for and would enjoy. Having been trained in Medical Transcription, which involved pre-nursing studies, I have always been fascinated with the human body and medical field and medical language. I take pride in knowing that I am improving quality of life for people who need help, especially toward the ends of their lives. I encourage independence and point out the positives that are sometimes taken for granted by us all. I truly care about people and therefore am very selective of where I work and for whom. I want to make sure I'm going to be in an environment where my attention to detail, patience, productive but not hurried hands-on care, and careful documentation are appreciated and encouraged. I've worked in a facility with a less than ideal resident/caregiver ratio. I did the best I could, but was too busy rushing around to give the quality of care I would want for myself or my family. I am currently certified and up to date in CPR, 1st aid, food handler, TB 2-step & recent 1-step, nurse delegation (including diabetes), dementia, mental health, DD, CEU's. I am trained and experienced in all transfer equipment and techniques, and g-tube feedings, catheter care, colostomy bag. Can lift over 50 lbs, have a reliable vehicle and insurance.

Going through the training to become certified has been a personal achievement, I was nervous at first, thought it would take forever.
