The reason I became a care giver is because I love helping people. I have worked as a Legal Secretary/ Personal Assistant, Customer Service Rep, Home Care Aid, Nurse assistant and Job Coach . I have dealt with lot and have years of lived experience. So I feel I can deal with hard issues rather easily and still keep a positive attitude and a pleasant demeanor. My first husband past away at 32 from Lymphoma and I took care of him for 6 months. Then my father got sick and past away from cirrhosis of the liver and already had diabetes and I took care of him. Then 3 years ago my step dad got bladder cance r and I moved to Washington to help my mom with him. She has onset of dementia and wasn't dealing with my step dad well. So I have helped them with their day to day care ever since. I love being a caregiver cause I love helping people and am driven to help the elderly and disabled in providing them with quality of life in care as well as dignity and independence with an emphasis on nutrition and hydration. I take pride in my work and always leave a job satisfied I did it to the best of my ability. I have never been a lazy person. My expertise is in hospice care , cancer patients, as well as stroke patients and dementia. I also have Non Verbal communication, Peer specialist, and Behavioral Specialist certificates. I go out of my way to be very gentle, caring as well as professional and not bossy. I always keep a friendly upbeat attitude with a lot of humor and making light of everyday life situations as well as being serious when a client isn't feeling well. So it is not work to me because I love what I do and don't mind doing it. I like to keep my attention on my clients and make our time their time and as special as possible cause you never know what can happen or when. I am empathetic and sensitive to others emotions and can tell easily, even without words, if a client isn't doing well. Clients often love me and special request me. ... more
