Caregiving takes a special type of person. It can be very difficult for clients to receive help-- especially if it is through an agency that throws them a different caregiver every time. This job requires that you keep that thought in your mind at all times, and understand the discretion and quiet dignity that it calls for. Being younger can cause an issue for me due to the "generation gap" between me and my clients; however, what I lack in that area, I make up for with a lot of love (and a little goofiness, because that's important too). Although I am newer to this, I have had a lot of positive feedback so far, from both families and clients. I would prefer to work with someone consistently, so we can build a relationship that this type of care needs, which in turn will be less of an intrusion on my client's personal space since they will be seeing a familiar, smiling face. My job is extremely fulfilling, and I often go home with my heart FULL!! I can see myself doing this for a long, long time. Mister Al Einstein could not have said it any better than: "Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile."

Although I have only been a caregiver a short time, I have been with Evergreen Retirement Community for years. I have heard much positive feedback about my care abilities since I have been doing this-- from both clients and their family members. In my current position, I provide companionship to elderly clients, including bathing, dressing, medication reminders, daily exercises. I can also take my clients to appointments, as well as take them grocery shopping/run errands (if they choose to go with me, that is), do their laundry and light housekeeping.

Provided customer service for residents and guests in facility-run restaurant as a server, and performed monetary transactions for residents and guests in restaurant and Evergreen cafe.
