I am a current student at Cabrillo College majoring in nursing, Graduated as a MA in 2018, I have experience in being a caregiver, with transfers, personal care such as showers, dressing etc. I love being a companion, great listener, caring.

Some of my personality traits are being good at making new friends or new relationships with others. I consider myself very outgoing and friendly. Something that attracted me to be a care giver is the opportunities and knowledge I can get out of, and also when I used to care for my grandma, I enjoyed that time with her. What I enjoyed more when caring for mg grandma was being able to be there for her whenever she needed me as well as assist her in her basic needs, and going on walks with her. A personal achievement I am proud of is returning back to college after taking almost 3 years off.

I am an RN of 35 plus years, I also work on staff as a Massage Therapist for a local fitness/ rehabilitation facility- I have a long background in hospital based Acute Care. In recent years my focus has been on eldercare, Hospice, home-care. I consider myself to be a calm, easy, cheerful- hands on care provider. I enjoy using my skills, training- I am able to provide simple or more involved care in the home- simple monitoring to assistance with daily life/ personal care. I like to provide individual care to both my client and their surrounding environment- keeping both clean, organized and comfortable. My assessment skills, training and experience assist me to determine, with the input of the client and family -what the current needs are, and then provide effective solutions and specific care that fits the client and their situation. I also believe in clear communication, so that all are working together towards whatever goal is desired-and whether that is increased independence, rehabilitation, post op recovery, or simply easing distress and assisting w basic activities of daily living, comfort care. I began working as a caregiver st the age of 17. Actually much younger as I often would take care of my mom as she was bipolar and needed a lot of assistance. Caregiving and helping people as always come very natural to me and provides me with a lot of joy. Being able to help with people is always been a priority to me. My greatest accomplishment in care giving has been caring for both my Father and my Mother through stage 4 lung and stomach cancer, plus advanced Dementia and Alzheimer's disease. My dreams were always to be a caregiver and after 3 yrs of working all day and going to school at night, while being a single mom, I became a preschool teacher/director. hello! I was a certified nursing assistant for 6 years and then I wanted to switch to one on one care. I've been caring for a woman in her home for 2 years now and it's definitely where I needed to be! I love being that support and friend that she needs and I can't wait to experience more of that! Caring for elderly is a passion of mine, and between working at a nursing facility and in private care, I feel that being home is the best option for them. I pride myself on giving the best care that I can, so they can be home as long as possible and have a high quality of life. What makes me a great care giver is having a lot of patience. I am compassionate and truly care about the people I help. I found caretaking came naturally, it found me in a way and I've enjoyed it since. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is bringing joy to those who have a difficult time or who are not able at all to go and find joy on their own. I completed nursing education back in my home country. And I used to work at DOMINICAN hospital here in the USA as a CNA and Rehab technician in a Acute Rehab Unit ( 1999 - 2009). After that I started to do private homecre as a caregiver on one to one case. Last client I had was patient With Parkinson started 2011, and he passed away August 2017. Just very recent!
