As a caregiver I enjoy the one to one connections with my patients. During my shift I am able to provide care as well as get to know my patient as a person. My proudest moments have been being supportive to family as the hospice patient transitions.

1.I became a caregiver because when I first came to America, I realize that the elderly was not treated right and they were placed in homes because there was no one to take care of them. I came from a country where our elders are kept at home and they are the first ones to be taken care off each day. 2. I am a people person and I love the fact that I can help someone at least do whatever they can still do for themself. It is very hard when our parents or family members are use to taking care of themselves and finally realize that they no longer can do for themselves. In their minds, they still think they can still do things for themselves because they dont want to accept the fact that they cant. I love to make them feel good and help them to do the activity of daily living. 3. I am proud of being able to give back to society. I have volunteer in numerous places with the elderly, children in hospital and also with cancer patient. This is an achievement for me especially when they look forward to see me with a smile on their faces. This really makes me proud. I also work with drug addict and when I see one beats the addiction, that is something to feel good about and it makes me proud. I am an an honest, reliable person. I never feel like a job is done until I give it my last touch up. I know that there is always room for improvement in anything that I do. 4. I am a certified caregiver. I took a CPR & AED training class and caring for the handicapped and Disabled person class for 3 and a half months which includes testing every week. I had a certified teacher and received a certificate in completing the class, and a certified red cross card/ picture I.D.
