I started as a caregiver ten years ago while looking for care for my father who was a retired Viet Nam Veteran. The agency who came to interview my father to see what his needs were, liked me so much they asked me to work for them. They are contracted through the V A and had lots of veterans who they said would benifit from my care so I stopped workung as a Dental receptionist and joined their team. My father passed away at home 3 years later in hospice during his illness I quit my job to be his caregiver and felt a strong desire to keep his legacy going by continuing to help those that can't help themselves. Just a year ago my husband had a brain aneurysm that caused a stroke where 6 months later he passed away at home in hospice where again I was his caregiver and needed to be there for him til the end. My heart goes out to familues who struggle with the pain of taking care of a loved one who is sick and even more so of a loved one who is in the end stages of life. Not only do I know how they feel but I understand their grief . I want to be the one who can comfort not only the patient but the family as well.

Through my 10 years of working with senior clients, I found that many found that the lack of independence and ability to intermingle with old friends was the most important desire for most of them. I therefore make time in their schedule to play cards, invite friends and do some outdoor activities if they are mobile. I have all my clients give me their meal choices and if able to help me make their meals.

I became a Caregiver because i use to take care of my grandma when she was sick and it just show me how its a good thing to help other people when you can't depend on no one .i love being a caregiver i love performing housekeeping and making there meals for them walk them around outside. I Love being a caregiver simply because I am able to help and assist those that are need. I always find myself helping someone out when they need it the most and it just brings me great joy to be able to do so. Being helpful was something that came quite natural to me. I do not find it ad to do, I have a heart that goes out to people and I love to see people smile. I think that a person that is a caregiver must have the heart to care for others, you must be patient and kind hearted and that me. I always put myself in others shoes and think how I would liked to be treated if I wasn't capable to do for myself. I have children of my own and raising them to be the best that they can be and to treat people right is a great achievement for me, teaching them how to treat people and how to have great attributes and morals about themselves is something that I am very proud of. to see my children grown and being respectful is worth it all. Seeing them growing up with the things that wee taught to them and them applying it to their lives makes me a very proud mother.

I have been doing Home Health Care for about 19 years now and nothing makes me happier. I love what I do and knowing that I am helping someone get through another day with the best care possible given is such a great feeling. Your family member becomes my family member and gets treated as such. I am reliable and willing to travel also. I do not have a busy schedule and am willing to work whenever you need me. It's a job that I always wanted to have,I saw years ago how there are many adults who need help due to illness,age,etc,and I saw alot of the time their family isn't always able to take care of them or keep them company. Honestly I couldn't see myself doing any other job , I tried different job fields but being a caregiver is the only job I actually enjoy and it's because I know I succeed in what I do . My clients are my everything I try my best to make them feel good in a the situation they are in , it's not easy for them to just have strangers around , but when you actually put time in and show them how genuine you are they get comfortable. I couldn't see myself doing anything else I'm a caregiver for a reason I love taking care of my seniors !
